I feel bad really, my friend who was just new to league was flamed and called braindead for not knowing the game very much. I'm really sad because now he won't even play league with me anymore. Really? This is bullshit, these "pros" can't even let new players learn the game.

That's kind of on you. If you bring your friend into something and don't properly teach and warn them, you're to blame when they don't want to come back.
All you needed to do was tell him to /mute all at the start, and the problem would've been avoided.
Isn't it a common belief that those who waste time talking a big game often suck at what they claim to be good at? Not sure what sort of player felt the need to insult your friend, but I doubt they'll have a chance to act out as "pro's" for long, with that sort of behavior. The best that can be done is to mute and report them. Hopefully you and your friend have had, and will have, better experiences with the game thereafter.
Wouldn't be surprised if the dude that called him that was recently permabanned and just created a new account.
