Permanent ban's are too harsh (hear me out)

I think the tribunal system is way too strict. For example you start learning the game and get flamed for being a noob and you say something like fuck you I'm new. Then the whole rest of the game you are called salty and are mocked and people try and bring the toxicity out of you. And if you give in then your account/chat is suspended and you are put into a pool of MORE toxic players which only makes it more difficult to not be toxic. So you learn to just mute people and ignore what they say but you already have that history of toxicity on your account and no longer qualify for certain rewards like the gold skins or borders on loading screens. Then on top of that you constantly feel like you're walking on ice and don't want to spend more money on the game because the next time you lose your temper and express it through chat you're at risk of a permanent ban ... I feel that riot should go through more chat restrictions before immediately resorting to long suspension periods and permanently banning accounts. Instead of putting these people with more toxic players and instilling harsh punishments why not try and HELP these people. A lot of these people are simply passionate about the game and can't handle their frustration. Why not create some kind of "rehab" system instead of sending them straight to prison? Or at least give people a chance to remove their toxic account status. For example have a level of account quality and the more games you go without reports and positive feedback the less toxic your account status becomes and you can eventually start participating in the rewards again. There is no forgiveness in the current system.

What you are describing here is a concept called "Prisoner's Island," and Riot does not do this with their toxic players. In fact, Riot has always been openly against implementing a Prisoner's Island in this game because, like you already stated, it is not a good method to help players reform.

There is no forgiveness in the current system.

Yes there is. After a certain amount of time of exhibiting positive behavior and not receiving valid reports, you do drop your punishment level. However, as you have already figured out, it's not a set amount of time. 3 months is the average amount of time to drop one punishment tier, but it's different for each player. For some it will be shorter and for others it will take longer, but it is possible.

They used to do more chat restrictions and realized that it accomplished nothing.

So now they use a tiered system.

10 game chat restriction 25 game chat restriciton 14 day ban perma ban

It is possible to skip tiers for EXTREME behavior.

Bottom line if you cannot learn to control your actions after multiple warnings RIOT doesn't want you playing their game.

RIOT is a business. I spent paychecks on riot points only to get permabanned for frustration. Just how it is, they don't care. Then RIOT tries to deal with the problem of newbies playing against smurfs, getting absolutely destroyed, and feeling like they'll never understand how to play the game. Newsflash: The more people that are permabanned, the more smurfs there are. I think instead of a permanent ban, make it a permanent chat restriction. That way they'll limit toxicity and the amount of smurfs.

Honestly, I'm rather curious to see how long it takes until your spam and harassment of other posters results in your receiving a ban from the boards.

Side Note: Paragraphs and proper punctuation/spelling are useful if you actually want people to read your posts.

Well, there's your issue. You should say "Sorry man, I'm new. Trying my hardest" without resorting to vulgarity. Consider asking for tips. After all, you're trying to get better and the more experienced players may have valuable advice.

If they keep flaming you... mute & report. Let them enjoy the punishments.

Tribunal system has been gone for a few years now.

For example you start learning the game and get flamed for being a noob and you say something like fuck you I'm new.

You can just say I'm new and skip the "fuck you" part.

Then the whole rest of the game you are called salty and are mocked and people try and bring the toxicity out of you. And if you give in then your account/chat is suspended and you are put into a pool of MORE toxic players which only makes it more difficult to not be toxic.

Two issues here...

  1. If you're gulible enough to give in to internet bullies you shouldn't be online.
  2. There is no such thing as a pool for toxic players in LoL.

So you learn to just mute people and ignore what they say but you already have that history of toxicity on your account and no longer qualify for certain rewards like the gold skins or borders on loading screens.

There you go...Just ignore them. No need to mute them unless you tilt easy. They might say something that might be usefull to you like their matchups ss.

I feel that riot should go through more chat restrictions before immediately resorting to long suspension periods and permanently banning accounts.

How is two punishments "immediately resorting to long suspension periods and banning accounts". It's really hard to get to the 14 day ban unless you are super toxic in every game. I think after two warnings even a dog knows not to shit in his bed.

Why not create some kind of "rehab" system instead of sending them straight to prison?

IRL rehab takes away your ability to drink, snort, shootup etc. Chat restrictions take away your ability to be extremely toxic.

Ergo Chat restriction = Rehab

Or at least give people a chance to remove their toxic account status.

They give you that chance. Stop being toxic and after a while your status goes down a tier.

For example have a level of account quality and the more games you go without reports and positive feedback the less toxic your account status becomes and you can eventually start participating in the rewards again.

Read above....they allready do that.

There is no forgiveness in the current system.

If you are thick enough to continue your behaviour through 3 punishments with no reform...you deserve the ban. It shows you won't change.

Riot is pretty transparent about what gets you restricted and banned. You also get warnings along the way. Any bans resulting from behavior may, or may not seem justified to you, but justified or not, Riot gives you plenty of rope in which to hang yourself and you see it coming with plenty of time to hand the rope back.

Everything you've stated is false:

1.) We no longer have a tribunal system - it's all automated and reviewed by Riot employees instead of players reviewing each case.

2.) You are not put in with a pool of more toxic players when you are suspended. You receive restrictions but play with the same people that you've been playing with before.

3.) Riot does not resort to immediate permanent suspension after a chat restriction. There's 4 levels of punishments and unless your behavior is extreme you do not skip them.

4.) Riot does have a "rebah" system. It's based off of a percentage of games that the average active players takes 3 months to go down a tier of punishment (mind you, you have to be reported quite a bit to even go up a level, hence the time it takes to go down one).

I think the current system is quite forgiving. Everyday I play at least one game where I lose my shit and rattle off cussings on my team mates when they're garbage AND choose to provoke me. I've only ever received one chat restriction. The problem is when you're one of those high and mighty asshole players than think they're some kind of pro and everyone who is not them is some kind of noob and you go apeshit and blame your team whenever you fuck up. I sense that the OP is one of these players. I meet these kinds of players all the time. Yesterday I had a jungler that ganked for me with little respect for the enemy's damage, he killed us both and for the rest of the game this asshole constantly harassed me, calling me noob and other less savory things. These are the kinds of players that get banned and they should.

As toxic as I can be, I rarely jump on anyone's case if they're doing poorly. If they feed out of control, I may say something but even then I mostly just start clamoring for a surrender. I don't start calling people noobs or wish them a horrible death or any of the things I experience on a daily basis. If I can't say something positive, I tend to stay quiet or like I said, clamor for a surrender.
