Riot and bans, just my opinion

I think that as long as riot allows people to spend money on its game it should not have the ability to permanently ban people for any reason other than hacking/cheating. Personally, I would never spend money on a free game like league but a lot of people do. The internet and league are full of trolls who will bait people into saying things on chat that riot might ban for. Because riot issues bans so easily and a lot of people spend a lot of good money on its game, I dont think permanent bans should be a thing for anything other than hacking/cheating.

Just putting in my two cents

That's like saying you can't get kicked out of a store because you've shopped there... or can't get arrested because you've paid taxes.

Nobody has to get permabanned. Riot starts with warnings, does chat restrictions, then a temporary ban; if that worked then nobody would ever make it to a permaban. Alas, this isn't the case, and temporary punishments and the threat of a permaban doesn't stop everyone. Permabans are a last resort used only when necessary.

Given that you have full control over what you say in chat, how clear that verbal abuse regardless of reason is not tolerated, and the ladder system giving people who are banned several opportunities to not do whatever is it that gets them banned, leave me with no feelings of remorse for those who end up with a perma-ban.

They would have had to made so many choices to intentionally antagonize people despite multiple warnings to land themselves in such a predicament. They have made their choice.

My two cents is that people shouldn't be playing at all (much less spending money) without having a rudimentary understanding of the TOS/EULA they've agreed to. If they choose to ignore those things, and then proceed to be huge jerks, it's kind of hard to build up a ton of empathy for them.

There are terms of service. There is a summoner code. If you agree to both, you agree to the consequences. As Nami stated there are several degrees of warnings in place prior to banning. If you wanted change, it would require some legal action, and the adjustment of what is defined as property, return standards, etc. Think of the valve case in Australia as an example. Good food for thought.

The only issue I have with bans is that it's not actually solving any problem, but just moving it somewhere else. Not that Riot actually has much of a choice in this regard, but it's a bit sad to see.

On my journey so far on my new account (level 16 so far), I'm seeing FAR more toxicity than I ever have in my years playing League. Game-long back and forths of sniping, report requests left and right... There's no way so many new players can be like this, it has to be a residual effect of banned players getting back into the system and kindling the proverbial fire down here instead.

For someone like me who's trying to reform and enjoy the game again, it's just... dreadful to watch.

I could report them, but what's even the use at this early a level? If they get punished, they'll just make yet another account and get right back to that level in a week tops.

(Yeah, I know I can mute them, but that's besides the point here.)

what I find quite hilarious is the fact that riot can and will use the same offense to lay down multiple punishments back to back. I mean, all you have to do is read some of these forum posts with some of the rioters and their attitudes. things like "oh with this same offense that you've already been punished for, we're just going to add on because we actually finally looked at the account and not our computer generated punishment" are rampant among the forums. Hell, half the tone some use can be considered unsportsmanlike and almost verbal abuse to their players.

That's just my opinion based on observation.
