Why is "Unskilled Player" not a reportable option?

I was just wondering, why is "Unskilled Player" not a reportable option anymore?

In most of my games, there'll be those 1/2 person(s) who sabotage the team. Yasuo It's fine playing games like these, but on servers like OCE where we see the same players every now and again, it's turned into a circus when the same players are losing us games. And an example of this is that I played a game with a teammate that I had been matched with in a few games previously (different days) and much like those last games, we lost (they fed, flamed, sabotaged etc.). Riven

Wouldn't a report option like "unskilled player" be useful in these circumstances?

we all have off games, but when we have to play with people who constantly lose, (even to people an entire rank below them), I think it should be then that being bad becomes a reportable offense. Draven

Thoughts?

It's not an option because every player has a different level of skill. Players in Silver are often considered bad by players in Gold. Gold players are awful compared to Diamond players. And so on. Being "bad" should not subject you to punishment as long as you're trying, since we're all bad players in the eyes of someone else. Hell -- even at the peak of competitive gaming there are players who are better than others, often by a significant margin, and these guys are the top of Challenger.

The MMR system serves to match players with the proper opponents, and yes, it does occasionally make mistakes. Also remember, however, that for any given player 50% of their games will be below average -- that's simply how math works. So, at any point in time, 2-3 players on your team are probably under-performing based on what you'd EXPECT their performance in that game to be.

I mean, why? Or maybe better, how?

Why would you punish someone just for not being as good as someone else? In theory everyone who wasn't rank 1 Challenger would need to be reported.

How exactly would you handle any... punishments for that report? "Oh, you're still bad? 14 day ban. Gotta get better or be perma."

If they are intentionally feeding or being bad (Disco Nunu) then that is another thing entirely.

they fed, flamed, sabotaged etc.

  1. Intentional Feeding
  2. Verbal Abuse 3 Negative Attitude

There's plenty of things to place a report. Just choose the one you think fits best for the situation. "Unskilled Player" was a pointless option in the past cause it didn't actually do anything.

Even when Unskilled was an option, it was never used for punishment reasons. It was used to help adjust matchmaking.

But because it was listed along side punishable reports, many people had the mistaken belief it was a punishable offense. So, once Riot had enough confidence in their matchmaking system, they pulled Unskilled from the reporting options.

Pretty sure that report option never did anything, it was just there to give people a placebo report to pick so they wouldnt make something up for players who cost them a game.

It was a joke option in the first place, for any pricks to take their anger out on someone who they thought played badly. It bred toxicity and poor performance is NOT a report worthy offense.

Nobody ever did care about beeing reported as "unskilled", so they just removed it.

The single purpose of this report option was to calm you down by beeing able to report someone for beeing bad after you lost a game.
