Called Enemy ADC "Garbo" in TEAM chat. Post-game my own team told him to report me.

First off I unknowningly was grouped with three premades. That was my first problem.

I was ADC Lucian. My sup was Pyke. We were against an Ashe with a Veiger support.

Early in the game I got ahead of Ashe and we won bot. The Veigar was building straight AP and doing all the damage and taking all the cs. I told my support that I didn't want to lose to the "garbo Ashe".

Then we started to lose. Enemy mid and jg came to help their bot and we started dying. Top lane lost and then after mid fell my teammates started ganging up and criticizing me.

I am VERY careful about chat so I kept quiet. (By now I had a hunch that they were premade so I knew better.)

Then we lost.

In the post game chat they totally unleashed on me. Calling me garbage. Telling me to go back to bots. Criticizing my build order.

Then they told the enemy Ashe to report me and that I was "talking sh*t all game" (not true).

My question is -- I did say the Ashe was "garbo" but only to my own teammates. Not in /all chat.

Is this going to come back and haunt me? Is this considered verbal abuse if the person didn't even see it but was told secondhand?

I reported everyone who was abusive, but the other issue is that the majority of abuse against me occurred in the post game chat screen. Does Riot even see that?

Ugh.

You're probably fine. Outside of cases of extreme toxicity (calling someone garbage is toxic, but nowhere near extreme) Riot waits for a pattern to show up in a report history before punishing you. If this is a rare action on your part you're completely fine. Riot sees the pre-game, in game, and post-game, so don't worry about that.

Also of note premades don't really matter to the report system. One report carries the same weight as nine.

Yes, riot does see pre/post game chat.

False reports don't mean anything as the system can verify whether a report is valid, if not, the system will discard the report.

Premade reports have the same weight as 1 report. The system is purposely programmed that way to prevent premades from abusing that solo guy.

Nothing has been verified whether the reports from enemy team that they don't see will be included in as part of your punishment.

Calling people garbo once is super minor and probably will decay faster than staying on your account record.

Since I have a hot temper and lost over 20 accounts over the past 8 years, I can surely tell you that RIOT finally found a nice balance between a heated call or permanent flaming.

Yesterday, I received TWO (!) punishment messages, because two people told me to ... end my life. And I reported them succesfully :3 But else, had a buch o'feeders and suddenly it was all "report Bard". They basically all sucked ass big times but wanted to call it on me. I fought back a little but with no real badwords. Nothing happened.

However, if you keep doing so, I think you will get into a manual audit. And then it's not just the swearword score anymore (the more you flame or the harsher the words, the faster the punishment). As far as I remember, I've recently read that calling out "SHIT" or "FUCK" once is not even considered as bannable. I think RIOT put in some one-time=nothing bumper in it. (In German, we have a saying "Einmal ist Keinmal", loosely translated: Once is none). So if you call someone garbo once, you are super duper fine. Garbo is probably not even in the chat filter to trigger anything in the first place.

To be safe, I also sent in a ticket with screenshots of the post game chat, as that has helped me in the past.

Riot admins always thank me for including them.

I explained the situation in my ticket. So far my account is ok.

Pre and post game chat logs are always taken into consideration when issuing bans, and they were recently added to the cards you get when you receive a restriction/ban on your account. The amount of people who report you doesn't matter when issuing punishments, as 1 = 9, so the premade and Ashe reporting you would have the same affect as if only Ashe did. That being said though, since you showed confidence early game and referred to the Ashe as 'garbo', naturally as you begin to lose the game the team will look to you as the reason and will flame you. I normally dodge when I'm put with premades due to this reason. If I do poorly I'm often flamed and trolled because of it, and that isn't exactly fun for me.

So even though I didn't say this in an abusive way -- I only said it to my own teammates, it will still count as verbal abuse?

Bummer.
