Is it wrong to open mid after an early afk?

Just got a chat restriction due to being reported for telling the enemy team "open mid." Our midlaner Akali died first blood to a Singed; nobody said anything to her, but she instantly ragequit at level 3. My understanding is that this is the one circumstance where "open mid" is warranted, but I got flamed by my other 3 teammates for it. I didn't 100% give up; I still farmed/ganked/took objectives, and ended up taking their base and nexus with my top laner.

Is it really so wrong to open mid after losing a player due to ragequit (not DC) before 10 minutes? I don't understand why anyone would want to play a game like that, much less get upset at someone that doesn't want to play a game like that.

Edit: this was a normal draft game, not ranked

Did everyone in the game on both teams agree that's okay? Feel free.

Is the above not 100% true? Don't do it.

You should ask for your team's consent first

Open mid is intentionally throwing a game, and should never be allowed.

opening is your teams choice when few individuals decide they want to keep you hostage as long as the majority of your team are fine with it there is no problem but if you are the only lane doing poorly and you open without your team wanting to do so you will be liable to a punishment

you can always dispute a ban/punishment with a support ticket

You shouldn't announce it in all chat if none of your teammates are agreeing to open.

People would want to play a game like that because of this

It is not wrong to open if all your teammates agree to it. Much like a surrender vote, if the majority of your team still want to play the game out, then by the rules, you have to play the game out. It seems like the rest of your team still wanted to play 4v5 so yes, it is wrong to open mid after an early afk.

As far your chat restriction, if you wish to discuss it, then you will need to post your full, unedited chat log of all games shown on your report card so we can discuss what else did you say on top of the "open mid" that warranted the chat restriction.

I'm seeing a fair few comments saying that opening lanes is fine provided the whole team agrees, but I've seen plenty of people given 14-day bans for opening lanes, with no other in-match evidence of intentionally feeding or trolling. Even if your whole team agrees to open lanes, there's a whole 'nother team that hasn't agreed, and may not; the enemy team.

As far as I know, I haven't seen any Riot statements regarding opening lanes, but I feel it's safe to say that it isn't allowed.

Personally, I've always found it in poor sport to open a lane. Even when you lose a man; there's always a chance to win. I've literally been part of a 3v5 win before. In particular, jungle is the best possible role to lose, because all your lanes are still covered. You're just missing ganks. Apparently the consensus is that there are times and ways to fairly open a lane, so maybe I'm in the wrong, but it's just my opinion.

Like wrong morally/philosophically? Or wrong according to the rules of the game? The former, noone can tell you. Its merely a matter of opinion, and there is no moral authority over you in this world. The latter, yes.
