RIOT support team with ZERO customer service skills
I was suspended for defending myself when someone had called me a "%%%" after reading and assuming my username was female. Prior to that he had a question that objectifies women, something along the lines with "How thicc are you?" After disappointing him that I was surely not female, there were more comments that were added and he even had a friend that supported his homophobic hurtful words. But through all of that ignorance I endured, I was in champion select and did NOT have the option to mute. Mistakenly I had finally told him "kys".
I went through all the trouble to email riot's "support" team to find out if I could have my suspension reduced or removed. I even argued that in exact wording via email, "someone killing themselves in a literal sense is a very serious matter but when you're in a heated argument like I was, with people that you have just met, the literal sense was obviously not implied." Fair enough, all they had was "Things like the term KYS or telling others to "kill themselves" is pretty offensive and it really has no reason to be added to the game."
All of this was throughout many emails. Within these emails I even asked if they ever had a case where they successfully removed or reduced a suspension in THREE separate emails. I was never given an answer.
DISRESPECTFULLY ENOUGH, "Mumbino" a representative of Riot's "support" team tried to escape a troubled customer in the easiest way he could and stopped replying me altogether. "Unfortunately, since it seems you no longer have any new questions unrelated to your suspension I'll be closing this out. I hope you have a great rest of your day and good luck in your future gaming endeavors."
I'm sure enough he was literate and because I hadn't spent a fortune or have close connections within riot, helping someone from the LGBT community would bring him NOTHING. Answering a question that was clearly unrelated to MY suspension that I asked THREE TIMES in three separate emails, no way did I deserve any of that right? Mumbino might as well just told me to fuck off. I have NEVER in my life been dismissed by any staff member of any company in such disrespect.
Well, you got it Mumbino, I'll stop it right here just as a concerned customer. Here's the MORALE of the story though. Saying "kys", or "%%%" the system will get you automatically banned, probably if enough people reported you. I guess I was unlucky enough to be in the same game with a bunc%%%f homophobes. However, if you don't use keywords to bully the victim, NOTHING will happen to you! You'll get off SCOTT-FREE. So go on ahead and support your homophobic friends if they are attacking strangers that just wants to play the game and make decent friends. Your hateful morale support will get you NO TROUBLE I PROMISE THIS because I witnessed it first hand. Make sure you ANGER your victim enough so they'll slip up and say something outrageously offensive back to you. Something as simple as the acronym "kys".
If only Riot had the option to mute people in champion select, all of this would have been avoided. I mute IDIOTS in game but why it wouldn't let me do it in champion select confuses me. When asked Mumbino if I could speak to a higher up I was rejected. Mumbino was clearly in no place to discuss about game features like the muting system but he just wanted his work to have the least trouble he could handle.
Speaking up about all of this out will not bring me any real justice but at least you'll know more about how this "support" team and banning system works.
For the record even if I get all thumb downs I meant every fucking word. What the fuck does a 0 Tolerance word mean without CONTEXT? It makes sense if BLITZ BOT the automated system bans you through that. But with understanding context, and going through all the trouble to get through to an actual person that has human judging skills to try to understand the whole situation with me, I just THOUGHT some logical sense would make them see why I acted the way I did. Why do they even respond to our concerns if they have no tribunal power? And because all of that happened in champion select where I had NO option to mute, maybe a reduced suspension could justify this situation a little better. I mean all of this is customer service right? I had questions where they ignored and there was even a lack of option that got me into trouble.
