Honor System
So the revamped Honor system has been out for quite some time now, and there's a couple of things that I find rather... interesting about it.
As I'm sure you all have guessed by now, the incentive for reworking Honor was to better faciliate the meaning of being honorable in League of Legends, rewarding sportsmanlike players with key fragments, free capsules that may contain skins, and end-of-season rewards like Grey Warwick and Medieval Twitch just for playing nice and upholding the Summoner's Code (A.K.A., the T&C that everyone has to agree to to play the game but no one actually reads).
Now, I am all for this — I think the reworked Honor system was a step in the right direction, however...
There have been far less than honorable people in my games. I have been rapidly climbing out of Bronze and am currently sitting at Silver IV, 48 LP. I am also Honor level two and haven't really been having bad games. The ocassional feeder and flamer, but nothing too out of the ordinary. Ahri and more recently Evelynn have been carrying me on their broad hips to victory through most of my games. Evelynn mostly. Because rework. I have a 60% win rate on Ahri and a 67% win rate on Evelynn, and you'll see why I'm telling you all this.
The thing is that I have noticed people who have Honor levels three, four, or even five in my games, but their actions are less than honorable. Don't worry, Riot, I've reported them. One instance I can think of right now is that my most recent game (The AP Eve one which I lost), the Leona continuously flamed me for... really, no reason. She followed me around my Jungle whenever she could, attempting to steal camps then asking me why my farm was so horrible. She was an Honor level three player.
Another instance was an AP Tryndamere that was on the enemy team. Yes, AP Tryndamere. It failed miserably, and while he wasn't flaming or anything, he was definitely int. feeding our top laner, going 0/5 before the eleven minute marker. This was an Honor level five player.
The third and last example I want to give is actually a "friend" of mine who used to play League often. This person used to be high Platinum back in S2 before plummeting to Bronze because they lost their five-man. All they did until their recent retirement from League was rage in all-chat. In one game, it got to the point where I DC'd from our private Discord server, muted his chat, and had to apologize to both teams for his actions, which led to me "getting my head chopped off", so to speak. My colleague had obviously put the enemy team on tilt from that, and for trying to do a decent thing, I'm the one lambasted. My friend was Honor level four, and the most flame was coming from an Honor level five Lulu and an Honor level three Draven.
"Okay, so maybe Honor isn't indictative of player attitude," you might say. "Maybe it's indicative of skill and how well you can carry games." That is clearly not the case, as... well, I'm carrying games, and I'm winning consistently.
I'm not upset at Riot. I am disappointed in the community for how it behaves, but mostly I am just confused. I know I'm not the best-acting player around. Everyone goes on tilt at least once — competitive games will bring out the worst in a lot of people. All I'm asking is for a logical explanation, because... I'm at a loss.
