"Report this player because _____"

So... I originally played this game years ago during closed beta and for a bit afterwards. In recent months I have come back to the game, and am enjoying experiencing the new champions quite a bit.

My only complaint is that the game actually seems more "toxic" now than it did all those years ago. From my experience most of these "toxic" players use riots own reporting system to create a toxic environment within the chat. Spamming keywords like "toxic" or "report this player because he upset in me some way". My question is, why does riot now feel the need to hold players hands? Considering everyone has their own definition of what is offensive or unsportsmanlike (i use sport loosely here), I feel the mute option is, well, the best option. If you're offended or annoyed, you can simply type mute and you're washed clean of the whole situation in a matter of seconds. Sure a report system should be in place, but for major things.

I dare say the only "toxic" thing in this game is the iron grip Riot feels the need to exert over the behavior of its players.

P.S. I am sick of people telling all chat to report someone because they're not playing how they want them to. It needs to stop. I'm really unsure how such a negative game rose to such fame. It literally becomes impossible to have fun after awhile.

NAw the issue is frustration.

Really its the same level of toxicity well maybe a lot more depending how you look at it. because now you got the common troll that is always in the game

But now that they have the reporting system Its now 2 things you have to deal with.

Troller - Int Feeder, rager, disconnector and what not..

Spammer, - The one who rages and spams for every one to report the troller.

so now instead of one source of Toxicity you have 2.

ITs the liberal mentality sadly of children. (rage and cry all game and hope you get your way)

Hmm .. let me stop you right here.

There are plenty of people whom misunderstand the system thus misuse it. The misunderstanding part includes yourself here, but don't get offended by what I mean, but let me bust a few myths here:

  • People think that they system works similar to a voting system, where you'll need a majority in order to get people punished

FALSE - A report (as well as multiple reports) within the same game just requests for the system to check for toxicity, "Was there Toxicity in the said game?". Multiple reports will return the same answer as 1 report.

  • People think that anything can get people punished - including not playing according to their play style

FALSE - The system checks whether there is toxicity in the game, if not, the report gets thrown out

  • People think it is ok to harass others by asking for reports

FALSE - It is not OK to harass others through asking for reports. It is just annoying and infact can count as a valid report against the person requesting those reports. Over large number of games, people have been punished for mild toxicity such as asking for reports.

I do recommend understanding the behavioral system more, since you just came back. If you got questions, go ahead and fire em. We'll answer it to the best of our ability.
