How about instead of punishing poor behavior, the Tribunal rewards exemplary behavior?

I think Riot's analysts' are taking the wrong approach to bettering the community. I mean, sure, there are TONS of toxic players, and there is a LOT of talk about punishment for poor behavior (and actions taken to prove it!), but I feel it doesn't better the community at all. "Positive reinforcement occurs when a desirable event or stimulus is presented as a consequence of a behavior and the behavior increases."
"Reinforcement is used to help increase the probability that a specific behavior will occur in the future by delivering a stimulus immediately after a response/behavior is exhibited." "Another way to put it is that positive reinforcement is adding something that will motivate the child (or individual) to increase the likelihood they will engage in that behavior again."

Now that I've stated what positive reinforcement is, I think it's safe to say that this can apply to both sides: good behavior and bad behavior. You may be wondering, "Why should we reward good behavior?" Well, perhaps some people just want to revolt and be punished just seeking the thrill of getting a ban, or want to have the invigorating feeling of "having gotten away with it," but the truth of the matter is simple: no matter how severe the punishment, the problem will persist.

My proposal is that instead of reinforcing on bad behaviors, Riot focuses on reinforcing good behaviors and rewarding those who make good examples for the community and are role-model players (with class!). This would encourage good behavior instead of merely 'discouraging' poor behavior.

I've been playing since season 2, and I haven't seen much of a change in the behaviors of my fellow gamers other than theiir ranks. I've noticed a lot of plat+ players are extremely toxic (from playing with and against them), but that is also in all other tiers. I think if there is more stress put on setting a good example, more people will follow and the community will better as a whole.

There are even tips that say, "Players with good sportsmanship are more likely to make comebacks," and "Plays that curse at their team mates are more likely to lose." Now, whether these are true, I don't know, but what I do know is there are a lot of really hateful people playing this game and they express it by blaming select few people in the game instead of trying to help them better themselves.

I feel this may provide a better in-game experience for both noobies and veterans alike, and create an atmosphere that would make the game much more enjoyable for everyone.

Just an idea I had... Take it or leave it. Thanks for reading! ^_^

My only complaint with the idea is, if we're erasing the punishment of bad behavior entirely, then the people who troll because they find it fun/funny will just keep doing it without consequences. I'd honestly settle for no rewards for my good behavior and have the problematic people banned from playing further.

If we're talking about implementing rewards for non-toxic behavior, it would be better to have both rewards and punishment, just like the free skins we had gotten a while back for being non-toxic.

They already do positive rewards occasionally, and intend to do more with the honor system and Tribunal voting later. Still, even with positive reinforcement there's no reason to not punish players. Some people just do not learn no matter how many chances they are given.

The Honour system and ribbons were supposed to do this.

I'm at 600 teamwork honours and still have no ribbons. I stopped caring a long time ago, and am about to stop giving them out (why should I bother when my teammates don't seem to remember to honour me?)

They're actually intending the New Tribunal (to be up sometime early next year) to do both.

These are just suggestions. Now I don't necessarily mean remove ALL punishments (as some players are deserving) however I feel the banhammer is currently a bit over-used, especially when it comes to chat restrictions. Let's be realistic too,_ how many people do you see with ribbons_? Not even one in ten. Also, bans/punishments are given out a lot more frequently than rewards.

I don't even want to read it. No reason to reward people for doing what they're supposed to do... you punish them for doing what they AREN'T supposed to be doing.

Bad idea.
