Inappropriate name change - Your thoughts

Hello,

After 6 years and several discussions with Riot Support, today my name "God Hates Lags" was force changed under the inappropriate name rule. I can sort of see that Riot doesn't want a name connected with the WBC running around and obviously Riot would like tto avoid the term "%%%s" popping up in their games, but my name wasn't supposed to imply or be read as "%%%s" in the slightest. The name is supposed to be a pun. Prior discussions with Rioters and games with the community have never had people tell me "lol I read %%%s" at most I get the occasional "I love your name!"

I'm just in disbelief. Riot support closed my ticket after I asked to speak to a different representative so I just want to know what your opinion is. Is this name truly offensive?

The name is supposed to be a pun.

While I understand this, the pun is only appreciable if you make the connection to the hateful discrimination. I think that is what makes in unacceptable: the fact that, to understand your name as the joke that you intended it as, you have to first thing of something hateful.

I think it's moreso because political and religious topics are not allowed, thus referencing political or religious figures in your name isn't allowed either. If your name was something like "The world hates lags" I'm sure it would be acceptable. But you would have to ask to find out.

The pun is clever and not a bad bit of humor, but one of the last things I need while playing a game for fun is to be reminded about the people who's mission in life is to tell me I'm going to hell and to make my life difficult. I totally believe you had good intentions with it, but I'm glad you had to change it.

For whatever little that it’s worth, I chuckled at the pun.
