How NOT To Deal with Trolls

I don't understand why this is such a hard concept for people to grasp. Trolls troll to try to get a reaction out of you (and bait you into saying something that will get you banned). Saying all the curse words you can think of isn't going to make them stop inting (or whatever they're doing).

The most cringeworthy and common things people say to trolls are: You have no life, your family doesn't love you, you have no friends, etc..

  1. While the troll is shitty for doing what he's doing, you're both spending/wasting the same amount of time on the same game, just that he/she decided to play the game a different way, so saying he/she has no life makes absolutely no sense.

  2. If you feel the need to make up stories about other people's lives and their families just to make yourself feel good and to soften the blow of losing a video game, then you're being just as shitty and toxic as the troll himself.

  3. You will likely get punished faster than the troll does since chat punishments are much easier to detect than gameplay. I would report the troll for trolling but also you for being super toxic and escalating the situation.

I'm playing on an alt account to learn Karma and also play with friends new to the game and have already encountered these types of situations quite a bit. I've gotten several Instant Feedback notifications and sadly most of them are punishments on the flamers, not the inters.

EDIT: The 2-3 of you who chose to just randomly downvote the thread without explanation immediately after the thread was created aren't discouraging me from speaking out. I bet y'all couldn't counter me if we were in a debate room.

I agree with all of it, other than the shitty person part. Thats not enough to go and accurately judge someone as an all around shitty person just for their reaction to trolls and cognitive dissonance.
