Is not FFing toxic?

I was playing a game of league of legends today which I, admittedly, wasn't doing the strongest. I was playing some off meta stuff with my buddy for ADC in a normal game. I was fiddle support if it matters. But a point rose from amidst the flame of all chat. That because our Darius/our mid clearly wasn't having fun in the game we were toxic for not surrendering. To make something clear we were going to lose but both me and bud wanted to stay for a couple reasons.

  1. My last game of the evening so may as well play it out
  2. Practice playing from behind so when we get into ranked we're better equipped to play while losing
  3. This one is petty I fully understand this our jungle AFK'd and we wanted to make sure that he/she couldn't get into another game for as long as possible

I fully realize that the last one could be vindictive/cruel but I'm not honestly sold on riots ability to punish players. I've never seen the a person you reported got punished banner, which does surprise me quite a bit and I don't know when it shows up but if I ever saw that banner I'd have the #belief in riot. There were a couple other points brought up and I'd like to share them with you now to get the communities feeling on them.

  1. If a player clearly isn't having fun is it on the other players to make sure he is?
  2. Should you be more willing to surrender a normal because it doesn't matter to your rank?
  3. If you're playing champs in an off meta role should you have more ability to play them?
  4. If all lanes are feeding the jungle should just afk farm it up to scale up.
  5. Do you trust riot to handle the bans / warning for players?

You sound like the toxic one, and there wouldn't be a surrender feature if it was toxic.

No you cannot be banned for just for not surrendering. It is a vote, and one that takes a supermajority. If that supermajority is not met, then all players are expected to contribute to the best of their abilities.

  1. You should at least try, but you can’t force someone to have fun.

  2. I’m mostly of the school of “never surrender”, especially for learning to play on the back foot, but if you guys aren’t training at that moment, I’d say a surrender isn’t terrible.

  3. Yes. Playing champions in an off meta role requires more intimate knowledge of their strengths and limitations.

  4. Depends on the Jungler. If the Jungler brings more to the team in teamfight presence, then I’d say no. However, I’m not a Jungle main, so take that with a massive grain of salt.

  5. In most cases, yes, though the system is hardly perfect.

I would say the only case where not ffing is toxic is when a player ( or a duo) that did extremely bad which caused a complete snowball and made the game borderline unwinnable will not press yes just to piss off their teammates so they either have to wait for 20 or till enemy gets nexus. On the other hand, those players often get flamed by their teams so It's understandable why they would do that if that happens

There's more to this than just the FF issue. I'd bet my last dollar there was nasty words traded and not just THAT game either.
