Riot employees can say some reprehensible things, but they have absolutely nothing to do with the consequences of harassing people in game.

Pro players/Streamers are held to a higher standard by riot and can be/have been punished for things they did outside of the game. If they are held to this higher standard shouldn't there employees be as well.

I've got the impression that the vast majority of backlash comes from people who got banned and use this to somehow "get back at Riot".

Tell that to Riot Sanjuro. He insulted then wished death on Tyler1 and was instantly terminated. Not in game btw. On a Discord server.

The only time I have seen anyone punished for social media comments was banning from Riot events (Scouting Grounds and stuff like that). Unless you want to consider ID bans causing to get banned from streaming the content on Twitch.
