Honor isn't about how friendly the players are

In all of my games the most friendly player isn't being honored. The one who carried the hardest is getting the most honor.

Personally, I actively try to avoid honoring the player on the team with the highest KDA, because of all the roles in the game, generally players playing "killers" are usually the first to tilt and flame when the game goes sour. Its the players who are playing support mains and utility champs are usually the best. They are playing for their team first and foremost.

And if unsure of who to honor, always honor the support or jungler. They are the least popular roles and the roles that are most flamed when things go wrong. And if someone is autofilled into that position, it's even worse for them having to struggle in roles that are so difficult, unappreciated, and fundamentally different than every other lane in the game.

Unless Riot changes something about how the new honor system works, it will be honoring KDA and never the true heroes to the teams.

P.S. I'm curious if Riot has metrics yet to see if there is any correlation between when players who play killer classes, toxic players, and players who receive "most honors" in a game.

Thats how it should be anyway.

Eh, I honor people for the reasons it's given.

If someone is genuinely a joy to play with, he's not a complete idiot, doesn't flame chat, or anything. He gets The GG.

If someone makes some good calls, which I rarely see in my games, he gets leadership.

If someone definitely was tilt proof, was in a game that was absolute garbage. But didn't flame chat. And he did not qualify for GG, I give him Tilt Proof.

I don't honor people for carrying games. Because you can be the most disrespectful, jerkass of a human being and carry a game. But it doesn't mean that I'm not going to turn around and ram a knife in your back when I get the chance for being an utter douche. I'd much rather hang out with a graceful loser, than some guy who will flaunt a trophy all day.

Maybe, however people who behave toxically certainly won't receive honor. So the system works in that regard because players don't want to be punished and lose honor rankings.

You climb the honor system even by just playing normally and not receiving punishments.

Well, the "GG <3" honor is one that kind of does well to encompass multiple different things for player behavior. Whether it's friendliness, skill at the game, or even just somehow being a positive force in the match, "GG <3" fits those things.

And, personally, I do often Honor my team's carrying players - whether they're my personal saving grace (thank you to all the Supports out there who have to deal with me being less than decent at ADC), they're just going full-blown #BEASTMODE on people, or anything like that, those people (in my eyes) deserve my "GG" honors.

I also use GG to honor players who are really friendly (chiming in "NJ", "GJ", etc to highlight good plays), and those who try to keep players from becoming defeatists who would elsewise turn the game on its head (although that may be better suited for "Stayed Cool"? IDK)

So, I agree with you that Honor isn't about how friendly the players are. It's about how people see others as sportsmanlike and as positive forces from game to game. Which is why there are honors for remaining cool under pressure, excellent leadership, and all-around good game having.

In most of my games the person who is carrying hard is also the most friendly. The occasional exception though is the extraordinarily arrogant ass who can help talk about how trash everyone else is and how great they are (usually the support player has like 50 assists or something like that, so yeah, they did 'nothing' for you).

That is opposite for me. I carry every game and don't get much honors. Of course most of my team mates are bots, not players.
