I'm officially tilted.

I really don't know where to start. I'm officially tilted. I don't even know if this really belongs in Player Behavior & Moderation. All I want is people to look and give their advice.

Tilt to me is more than just a feeling. It's a state, a condition. And trust me, it isn't a good one.

I've lately been feeling VERY emotional when it comes to league. When I played poorly I would just have a mental breakdown and just sit there wondering "What did I do wrong?" I recently played a Hecarim game (my main) and I did so bad I left mid game. I never expected myself to breakdown like this, furthermore leave mid game. That's a potential ban. All of THAT aside, when it comes to league, I've been feeling depressed (I do have depression) and a lot of the times aggressive. I would punch walls, throw things, etc. Yet all of this is my fault on behalf.

I don't want to quit. I love this game, it has changed who I am as an individual and as a close friend. Am I just getting butthurt or am I simply immature?

Any advice on how to officially untilt?

EDIT: It seems like I need a Psychologist more than random players. Weird because I'm already seeing one and everything we're evaluating seems to not be doing any good.

This game is garb, it's not your fault. Only reason I play is because my friends don't have Overwatch yet. If you think the game is the problem, play another game that's more fun and takes less time, like Overwatch or CS:GO. If you like the game, try playing with music on. I can't get in a bad mood with music on.

just a thought outside the box... stop putting so much into league. its a game, play it to enjoy it, you will do bad , do good, win some lose fun but enjoy the game. because your main, you arent your rank, you are not your elo. you are a person playing a damn video game.

Are you on antidepressants?

JackerPig8/21/2016, 1:37:36 PM1 votes

Maybe always play with a group of close friends. That may ease the pressure.

Take a breath or two. You're sitting on a computer playing an online video game with people you've never met before. So are you playing in the LCS series? No you are not. It doesnt matter if you win or lose just get out there and try your best. Don't let others opinions bring you down and keep your chin up buddy. Dont get upset think "What can i do better to help myself" Basically constructive critiscm. Look at the things you can improve on not what you're doing poorly on. Hope this helps good luck with you games bud. I main Teemo and if you wanna chill my summoner name is Cossarini. Good luck buddy

the best way to not care about losing is to study how matchmaking works. in a matchmaking system everyone loses about 50% of their games. no matter how good you are you are going to lose around half.

this means every time you lose, you will get a win for it later. how else would you end up at 50%? every loss gives a future win and every win will create a future loss.

i actually sometimes prefer losing now. it is just setting me up for fun wins in my future.

Try playing another champion and try to actively smile while playing the game, it helps me. Shaco

Try to eat more vegetables and ride a bicycle outside in the sun to deal with the depression.

Depression is usually due to poor nutrition.

League sucks it's boring being forced to play a 60 minute one sided match. Just quit bro trust me.

Life is sooooo much better with a PS4. This month especially I'm looking forward to the new destiny expansion and No Mans Sky just came out (on pc too I think).. it has a quintillion planets or something crazy like that! Then NHL 17 even though Cry Baby Crosby is on the cover. It's... just better. Once you get one you will finally remember what it was like to ENJOY gaming. What it's like to look forward to the future instead of being stuck in a shitty 60 minute NOW.

Troll your ass off in games.

I used to be sad about losing as support. Now I only play Jhin support and its hilarious. People dodge, scream, feed, afk. All hell breaks loose in every game.

And its WAAAAAAAAY more fun than actually playing.

Today I caused 219 lp worth of dodges in lobbies, just by locking jhin support.

The best part is that since I queue support, I am RIGHT back in lobby 10 seconds later.

I was thinking halfway through your post that you just need more going on in your life. And then you said it... you already have depression. That's the problem, man. I'm not insulting you for it, I recently went through some depression myself for the first time in my life (I'm 29, and thought up until recently that depression is just kinda being sad about something and not really a legit medical problem) and after going through some big events and getting shit going in my life, I find myself taking shit like video games a lot less seriously. I even stopped playing league at all because it was just a frustrating experience where anytime I did bad I would lose hope and just wanna quit because I'm not getting better.

But ya after doing things pertaining to my actual life, my focus on video games went way down and I actually started having fun in League again. It's not like I'm doing better or winning more either. I just don't take it so hard when I get outplayed. So ya man, just try and figure out what it is that you're unhappy with in your life and try to find some contentment so when you play league, it's not a big deal whether you win or lose. You know that in a few hours or whatever, your life will move on and league will have nothing to do with your job, friendships, relationships, your future, your education, whatever it is you do with your life. Just don't put video games on a pedestal as if they're important or are some kind of reflection on your state in life.

It reminds me of that episode of Always Sunny in Philadelphia where they play an online game and Charlie says "it's like when I'm doing good in the game, I'm doing good in life!" Just remember how ridiculous that statement is and it may help you put some perspective on it. Or you can laugh at yourself for how seriously you're taking the game, getting all pissed and tilted. Because when you go out and drink or just hang out with your friends, there's people playing league tilting like mother fuckers getting all pissed off. It's ridiculous. You just need some perspective. (Obviously there's more to it, but I'm no psychologist)

It might be a good idea to take a break, not from league as a whole, but maybe, if you lose a couple games, don't play for the rest of the day, or for a few hours, give yourself enough time to get over the losses.

If you start losing repeatedly, you'll start feeling worse, then you won't be able to concentrate as much on the game, causing you to lose even more. This might be one of the reasons behind why your games aren't going too well.

Everyone has a bad game or two in league, everyone makes mistakes, don't get upset by dying in a fight, reflect on what you did in a fight, and think about if there was anything you could have done to survive, sometimes you wouldn't have been able to do anything! In that case farm up a bit, focus around the enemies you can deal with, play more passively until you are at a stage in which you can play more aggressively again.

Also, try playing with friends, join a voice chat, it's good having the opportunity to talk to people whilst playing, a quick "have you seen the enemy jungler?" Is quicker said than typed aswell, and friends make the game more enjoyable anyway. You can have a laugh with them :) it's even funny at times when you make mistakes, e.g I was standing next to a bush once and still failed to place the ward inside it xD but I pinged to let my friends see, and we had a laugh about it.

Try to keep in game chat to a minimum, if you use it, only use it to say gj, ggwp, and compliments. Making other people feel good, will make them more likely to compliment you and help you in game. Anything important in game can be said through pings, there's no need for anything else to be said in chat. Don't be afraid to ask for help though, there's no shame in saying "can someone tell me where I'm going wrong?" It shows you're trying to improve, it's a team game remember, don't think you have to work everything out by yourself.

But yeah, I'd recommend taking a break after a couple of losses, don't worry about ending on a loss, it's better than ending on 5!
