Why Are People So Report Happy?

I'm not really quite sure how to word this, but it befuddles me the amount of people I've seen threaten to report someone just for not playing well or for having a bad game. There can be a lot of factors that influence how well someone plays, whether it be fluctuating ping, bad match-ups, going against players with more experience, and so on and so forth. It just really concerns me how angry some folks get, to the point where they have to take out their frustrations in the post-game lobby.

I'm relatively new to the game in terms of PvP, considering that I almost only play bots (sometimes I play really well, other times I play downright terrible). I'm aware of the discussion that League has one of the most toxic gaming communities, but it's really saddening to see how quickly someone turn on another as if that's somehow going to make them play better in future matches. It really sucks, too; I end up having to constantly mute chat because if people start getting tilted it makes me really anxious and then I can't play as well :(

Maybe it's because I don't really understand people, but it's something I can't quite wrap my head around. Is it because of the amount of times people have been trolled? Are they just having a bad day? Do they place high expectations on themself and then take it out on the team? Who knows? I certainly don't.

Overall I'm kinda just <:( Is it really so hard to try and be friendly?

(As a side note, if you've played with me and have had to deal with my terrible toosh, I'm really sorry; I'm really slow when it comes to learning and bots aren't really helping me learn much, nor are guides, videos, or my friends' advice (a lot of it is rather contradictory). I understand what is being said, but actually successfully executing it is a different story.)

It's psychological satisfying. When you're really angry and frustrated that somebody is ruining your game, you can't make them play better and you can't flame them out without getting banned yourself. Reporting someone is literally all you can do when you're unsatisfied with their behavior. It gives you an opportunity to vent and put dealing with them in someone else's hands so you can move on, rather than sitting there steaming over it.

to answer your title: because riot is too stupid to tell their players to stop begging for reports. i bet 95% of the playerbase still thinks 9 reports are better than 1. why? well because riot never told anyone otherwise besides in some private twitter post or some lost post that noone will ever see again

why?

one word: salt

when the game doesn't go according to their expectations, people get salty and choose to blame everyone else for the loss instead of delving into self criticism and trying to improve themselves. For some people it's just easyer to deal with a bad game that way.

Because if they say anything naughty, they risk being banned. So they try to get revenge by reporting people

There's literally a loading screen tip that recommends reporting someone for simply making you feel uncomfortable in game, and I'd say another member of your team doing poorly certainly qualifies for that standard. When Riot is telling people to use the report function this way, it's not really surprising it actually does happen.

Because its easy to report and if i have to bite my lip and stfu in the face of assholes insulting me, so do you. So i report. You dont get to break the rules unless I can too. Its really that simple. Call it petty, call it "snowflake" or whatever trendy internet term your preferred group uses, I care not. There will be no double standard. If im held to a standard, so are you.

However, i have never once typed "reported" or "im gonna report you". Thats just being an antagonizer and imo, comes off as baiting. I'll just silently report and let Rito decide.
