A player told me that he can find my location via my ip

Hi,

Is it possible to get my ip and my location from the game? A player threatened me that he will see me in 3 days. He told that he knows someone who can find my location via my ip. There was a normal dispute in the team and he got angry at everyone in the team (mainly me).

Also, I closed that game without reporting from this behavior. Can I report him again?

Regards, Ankur

Technically speaking he isn't wrong.

He has to find your ip first, which means he has to hack riot's security, then the servers, and then your isp connection.

Aka, its dam hard to do that, and probably not worth your time to worry.

Don't worry, I'm more than sure he's either a 9 years old kidor a 40 years old that lives in their mother's basement without doing anything good for the society.

Unless you clicked on a link he sent, and that link pointed to a website he made (sometimes people disguise these links as real websites), then no, he can't.

AFAIK they can't get an exact location without information from your ISP or yourself. Your IP will point to your home city or it may show a neighbor city. Most trackers can guess your approximate area. But unless they get into certain databases that links your IP with your home address, you should be alright. However, It is not impossible to find you. Granted, it would take some serious hurdles to do so. They would have to do some serious searching. Depending on the footprints you left throughout the internet, it can be easy or hard for them.

League shouldn't display any identifying information about you such as IP address very easily.

This is the one problem with Peer to Peer games. Your IP is shared, someone can grab your IP address that way. But League is not Peer to Peer.

And yea, don't click any links he sent you. One click will record your IP in that instant.

Generally the kind of people who actually know how to do that have better things to do with their lives than type shit like that in chat. I wouldn't be worried at all.

Don't worry about it.

Toxic people talk big, but they will never deliver, League included. If the toxic player really wants to do harm to you, not only will they have to break a few laws in the process, they'll also catch the eye of Riot and a few other agencies.

Whoever the salty child is, they aren't going to do anything to you. Just report them, send in a support ticket to Riot with the evidence, and let Riot get rid of that toxic member of their community for you.

Edit: Go back to your League games, the one that the offending player was in, then send in a support ticket to Riot.

Yeah it's possible to find your location. But I wouldn't worry about it. Just empty threats.

unless hes is mentally hill enough to actually try to find the Personal information of some random stranger on the internet over some video game and actually know how to do it ( 99% chance he doesn't)

nothing is going to happen
