I hear tales of these mythical things known as pop-ups that some players receive telling them that someone they reported was receiving instant punishment approximately 5-10 minutes after the report was submitted. (I'm assuming only for the automated 2 week bans as mentioned by The Big Piece) I'm not sure if the permabans go through that, or if those are reviewed prior to issuing in some, or all, cases. Either way, I've never actually seen one of those pop-ups. The only way I've ever known about someone's punishment was by them coming here, or onto Twitch or YouTube to talk about it. I dont tend to throw out an inordinate amount of reports, at least I try to think twice before hitting that button to decide if it's genuinely toxic, or whether I'm just pissed because they pointed out some mistakes I made. I'm more likely to overlook a reportable offence from someone that genuinely pissed me off, simply because I want to be sure that any reports I submit are valid and as little biased as possible. Perhaps one day, I will see one of these popups. Or perhaps I simply report people unfairly. Who knows.
I'm sure a lot of people, myself included would looooove to know when/if someone who is being a total knucklehead gets their comeuppance. Especially when they are a cocky little snot who acts like the entire internet should bow to them, as they are the high and mighty Bronze 1.
But looking at it from the devil's advocate side, if the role were reversed, and you had snarled or b***ched at a teammate, and knew they reported you for it, would you want them being told that yes, they did indeed get the last laugh, because you got restricted, suspended or banned? Seems like telling the "enemy" about the punishment is adding a bit of insult to go along with the injury of punishment.

I think it is our business to know if a report was valid or not. It would add to better reporting and alleviate a lot of concern from players that their reporting does nearly nothing to combat the toxicity they see.
As far as this, I do miss the old tribunal. If you were a part of it, you got a grade, that let you know where you stood within the community of other tribunal members. So you could see if the majority of other players felt the same way you did, or if they felt more leniently, or more harshly. Having that checks and balances system was wonderful, as not only did it let you know what the end result was - whether there was a punishment issued or not, but in doing so, it tended to silently lead all the tribunal members to begin to view the CoC in a very similar manner. Which made it quite easy to decide if something were punishable or not.
