Why is surrendering allowed in the game?

By its nature all games of league of legends are winnable, even games where you have players breaking the rules, trolling, inting, afk it is still posible to have a comeback and win.

So why does riot give players the option to give up in a game? Its even listed as the first reason to report a player, so why give them the option?

I have been playing for a few years now and i have not once felt the need to betray not only my teammates but also dishonor my enemys by not giving them a fair fight where i try my best.

Would it really be too hard to give players a 3 strike system where if they surrender 3 times they are banned for breaking the rules of the game?, its not even like disconnecting where their are sometimes real world issues that force you to disconnect, You have to manually click the surrender button implicating you in breaking the rules. There is no way to shift blame as you are solely responsible for your own actions.

The "giving up" mentioned in the report screen refers to a defeatist attitude, not the use of the Surrender feature.

Initiating a Surrender vote isn't against the rules, no matter how many times you do it.

Saying "gg, top is lost, we lose", on the other hand, is.

The Surrender feature exists to allow players who feel the game is no longer winnable a fair and easy way to back out of the game. And, I gotta repeat this:

Surrendering is not against the rules. Being a defeatist and draining team morale is.

Would it really be too hard to give players a 3 strike system where if they surrender 3 times they are banned for breaking the rules of the game?

That's asinine. That'd be like saying people should get banned for not buying items from the recommended tab in the in-game shop.

because losing isn't fun, and people play video games for fun.

pretty simple concept.

not everyone wants to get slaughtered over and over again for that 1% chance that 2 of the enemy team will DC.

.... actually there are run rules in baseball in some leagues, as well as softball. In both tennis and golf a player can resign with out penalty. In MMA you can tap out.

Likewise, in games where you can't just stop playing... say NFL, NBA and NHL there is a set time limit to the game.

The intent is for when a game is already clearly lost with no way to come back: someone has more kills than there are minutes in the game, only Nexus turrets are up for you while the enemy team has all of theirs, and other, similarly unwinnable scenarios. In essence, the purpose is for when the game is over already, and destroying the nexus is merely a formality.

Unfortunately, it's too often used because the game merely isn't going well.
