Honor level/ Updated May 2018

Hey! How's it going. I'm currently playing Clash on a different account from my main one, due to being honor lvl 1 on my other account. I have a couple of questions about honor. I'm aware that all of these questions have been asked but Riot has the best way of dodging questions I've ever seen from any company.

  1. Specifically, why is there no way to see how far I've progressed from each checkpoint in honor? I've been honor level 1 since the beginning of season and have not gotten a single punishment or warning. I've played more than 450 games since beginning of season without a single warning or chat restriction. I have not moved up at all, although seeing messages once I open my client with keys and reminding me that I've been more sportsmanlike.
  2. Why is it so hard to get back to honor lvl 2 for such a minor infringement? I haven't been banned from playing the game at all, no 3 dady bans, no 14 days bans, no 1 day bans. Nothing at all except for one chat restriction and now I'm prohibited from gaining rewards and playing clash.
  3. Why is it so important to keep hidden the progress players make toward the next milestone? I have friends closely monitoring their honors per game just to try to figure out why they're not advancing, and Riot wont simply implement a small exp bar or some kind of indicator that you're making any progress toward the next milestone.
  4. Every team in clash is made up of people that know each other. Considering that everyone has to buy tickets and actually schedule to be online together all at once, it's safe to assume that people take it seriously and are aware of each other's existence. Why does it matter if one of the players on the team is honor lvl 1 if everyone else on the same team already knows how that person acts and still chooses to play with them?
  5. Is banter a reason a report is deemed valid, or does it have to be an actual offense?

First of all, I strongly recommend not playing clash on any account other than your main account. If you are caught doing so, you risk the potential penalty of both accounts being permanently banned from playing in clash ever again.

That being said, I'll try to answer your questions:

  1. No, checkpoints are the most you can see. Ideally, each checkpoint should take no more than 2-3 weeks of normal play if you're behaving well. It will take less time than that at honor 0/1 after it is unlocked.

  2. It isn't hard to get back at all. At honor levels 0/1, the honor progress is actually slightly sped up, to the point that it's possible to gain an entire honor level in well under a month. There are multiple reports of very active players who've gotten from 1 back to 2 in a little over a week. If you are not gaining honor that fast, you are likely still being validly reported for poor behavior in some of your games.

  3. Honor progress is hidden because it isn't designed to be a grind. It is intended to reward good behavior - not reward grinding out a progress bar. Further, honor is fluid and dynamic - it does not lend well to a "percentage" progress bar, or any progress bar whatsoever - there's too many variables to accurately display your progress in one bar.

  4. Because in an extremely competitive environment, there is no place for toxicity at all. Not only may that player get "triggered" by the extremely competitive nature of clash, but they also may negatively effect the enemy's game. Just as pros who are toxic are barred from pro play for a while, players who are toxic are barred from competitive play in clash.

  5. This heavily depends on what you call banter. If you call abuse, harassment, and insults "banter" because it was "joking" or you "didn't mean it seriously" and "said lol at the end of it" or "but i said jk", then yes, "banter" is a valid report. Something being "banter" does not make it any less abusive or against the rules. Multiple people breaking the rules doesn't make it okay either.

When people receive valid reports, that aren't enough to trigger a penalty, it still affects their progression through the honor system. This is often times what creates the perception for honor 0 players that it takes forever to climb. They think that just because they are getting honored and not penalized, it must mean they are progressing. This is not so.

Think about your honors progress like a stock market chart. If you behave well in your games, your progress increases, when you behave poorly, it drops.

Riot can't give you an exp bar cos you are the biggest unknown in your progress. It can shoot up, dive deep, or have a slow growth/decline.
