Let me tell you something. Toxicity may be A problem, but it is not THE problem. THE problem is their refusal to deal with all the other b.s. in the game. To make clear what is reasonable and acceptable behavior, to give semi-balanced games CONSISTENTLY, and to discipline and educate those with horribly misguided senses of what is and should be.
As that was intentionally somewhat vague, let me give examples... because examples can better illustrate concepts in a way others can relate to and understand - hence why stuff like art transcends language barriers.
Suppose you are being pushed in by your opponent early game and your jungler wants to gank. Because 1. there's a giant creep wave, 2. you're down a basic ability (lvl 2 vs lvl 3), and 3. the enemy jg is likely in the area... you ping your jg NOT to gank several times. He ignores, dies 1v1 or 1v2 while you are farming the minions under your tower, and decides to flame you. It's your fault he died, you're an idiot, you need to be reported, you're never getting another gank, he will intentionally come to your lane to screw with the wave in a way that helps him and hurts you any time he's in the area, but never look to gank FOR you again.
Ok, you manage to stay relevant despite your laner being fed doubles, despite the enemy jg camping you from then on for about... 15 min straight, and despite your jg actively trying to screw you over here and there. Your jg is duo with another teammate of yours and so he backs up jg in basically making everything somehow your fault. Your other lane is feeding 1v1 or 2v2 depending on what lane you are. Jg ganks for them and it may get them a kill, but then the enemy jg finally leaves your lane for over 25 sec and turns around that play.... getting a 2 for 1 or a 3 for 1 in an even fight (again depending on what lane you are). Because jg "helped" your other lane... they now side with jg and blame everything on you. You continue to either ignore or calmly and rationally debunk all their false accusations. Possibly, you mute some of them.
Laning is over, team is forcing bad fights away from the safety of tower when far behind and because you don't tp into every fight or follow them around map like a puppy to peel for them and die for them, you're a selfish trash laner. Or... if you are an adc... how dare you expect your team to peel for you and not make you frontline. Team loses fight after fight that they had no need to force and no ability to win meanwhile every advantage you personally create 1v1 or 2v2 - while at a deficit due to being camped and put behind all laning phase - is negated due to having to throw away the advantage you created through OUTPLAY by having to go elsewhere to 1v5 or 2v5 defend your inhib towers cuz you're team just inted another fight. You've calmly explained what everyone NEEDS to do to have a chance at winning. You've gone out of your way several times to help, but they won't listen, they're still flaming you, and still screwing you over at every turn even if it hurts your entire team more... like deny you 5 cs to gift enemy free 3 man inhib tower push rather than get 20 cs and defend base. So you eventually get fed up with the bs and give them a taste of their own medicine. Only you don't avoid using words the chat toxicity detection system will notice like they did. What they 100% implied/said w/o using a specific word... you use that word. Now... you end up being chat restricted while they get off scott free. Let's look at the offenses of all 3 parties (jg and duo laner, other lane, you).
Jg and duo laner - inting (forced fight(s) they have no business taking - including after they were specifically told NO several times by you via pings, chat, etc.), flaming (avoided key words, but everything else was said and those key words were 100% implied such as you're a giant *itch vs adding the "b" in there), griefing (ran it down, forcing more fights needlessly which they stood no chance of winning; intentionally screwed over a teammate)
other lane - inting, supporting toxicity and/or joining it via siding with and supporting jg in chat, etc.; potentially griefing too
you - toxicity (upon severe and repeated provocation)
Yeah... gotta get rid of those toxic players like you.
Ok, so hopefully you can see here... there's a ton of other stuff that doesn't get addressed which SHOULD be getting addressed which CAUSES a lot of the "toxicity" which gets all the attention. And sure... your toxicity isn't ok, but you gotta look at what caused it. Are you just a toxic jerk, or are you a nice guy made toxic by having.... 8+ games in a row over a week like the one described above and seeing none of such teammates punished despite you reporting them making you give up on the report system? Just pause a minute, re-read that and digest it.
Seeing things in a slightly new light now?
How about calling all the mains of a champion crybabies and biased? Not an individual... EVERY... SINGLE... MAIN... of that champion. That seems a bit disrespectful to me. But nope, nothing done to a guy like that who repeatedly disrespects both individuals and entire otp groups and makes outlandish claims against them. I got fed up with hearing his garbage and nothing being done about it when I reported it, so I called him childish and said that he had no backing for his claims other than shouting "biased" and "lies" as his argument against factual evidence. And... I got told I could lose my chat/post privileges for being rude and saying stuff that doesn't help "further the discussion". Someone explain how THAT is logical and unbiased?
shortened example scenario:
a - all yasuo players are crybabies and feeders
yasuo player - uh... no we're not, and looking at (insert website of your choice here for stats), there are numerous players who have games with positive kda, there's player x with honor 5 and a yasuo main, etc.
a - you're just baised because you play yasuo... those stats are not correct, you probably made them all up
yasuo player - no, here's links to several sites... you can check the stats yourself, also here's links to a pair of videos showing yasuo mains winning w/o their team babysitting to set them up for their positive score
a - that stuff's from yesterday... it's irrelevant and probably bs, and besides you guys only win if team babysits you. Can't trust anything you use for evidence because you're a biased yasuo main
... etc. etc.
yasuo player - you're being unreasonable and biased against yasuo players. maybe you are the crybaby
rito employee or volunteer - dear yasuo player, your recent comment is unacceptable. This disrespect towards a fellow community member will not be tolerated. Further such comments will result in a penalty against your account. Any attempt to share details of this incident will be met with a penalty and evidence removed and held classified.
