Really feel smurfing needs to be addressed, playing in an elo your not supposed to be in ruins it for other players, if someone admits to smurfing at any point, whether its for real or trying to act cool, they should receive a temp ip ban, im tired of people entering my games, trolling, then telling me they dont care because their on a smurf account
tbh, it depends on why you smurf. If you're smurfing to play and learn a role you're not familiar with, then it is ok imo. The moment positional rank hits live on all servers, this shouldn't be an issue anymore though.
People that smurf just to "bash noobs" are the ones despisable. Those are also the ones that occasionally "troll" just to drop in rank to stay on "noob territory" or else they'd be on their "actual" rank pretty fast.
There's one problem though- not everyone that says they're smurfing is actually smurfing. Some people just say this to either get their role or to "play down" their terrible gameplay by saying "yeah, I'm not even trying cuz this is my smurf, I am actually way better". Detecting what's the case is pretty hard and it's even harder to detect if someone is actually playing bad in that game or if he's trying to downrank. Riot is already struggling to detect actual trolls and punish them, detecting elo-manipulating smurfs is even harder.
They went into the right direction with Clash linking a phone number to your account. I know it's easy to get a phone number for a few euros nowadays but at least we'd be getting MOST smurfs out of the way if we implemented this for ranked.
Free accounts. Fix that and the punishment might actually stick.
