Matchmaking and Premades

I'm not sure if this is a glitch or if this is intended, but lately I've been getting into a lot of premade games.

Like, not premade with my friends; the opposing team is premade. And not like a premade duo bot; it's the whole team. And my team is not premade...

This doesn't just happen in 5's, I've also seen this a lot in 3's. I will either solo or duo queue in 3's, and every so often we'll be matched up with a full premade team of 3 (this is most notable when they all share the same club name, as well as always seeming to be together where ever I go). Granted, if I have a premade of 2, it's not "quite" as unfair, but I press the argument of having a team with full player cooperation/planning/voice communication verses a team whose composition only rivals that partially.

But whatever, it's normals and it's 3's. But just today, I fought a premade team of 4 on Summoner's Rift, with only one other premade player grouping up on my team. Now the ratio is 2:1 for communication and planning. I can't tell you how many times the 4 of them executed some elite strategy against any number of us without warning. They had superior map control, warding, counter-warding, dragon-stealing, tower-diving, pie-eating contesting... well, you get the idea.

I have no problem with the gaming allowing sets of premade players to play together - in fact, I think its quite fun. But it was my understanding that the matchmaking system was geared to match up players with an equal number of premade players to add fairness to each game (example: 5v5 where each team has a premade of 2 players, or 5v5 where each team has 4 premade players, etc.). Pitting a team of 2 against a team of 4 is simply not fair; its literally like playing a 2v4 game constantly, with the occasional variable of the non-premade players making an occasional good play... or a bad one.

Ultimately, this results in the premade team with the most "premade players" having an enormous advantage over the other team. I do not feel this is fair, and I would like to humbly request that the current matchmaking system be revised to only match up an even number of premade players. Additionally, I think it would also bring some fairness to the game to have a "solo's" queue, like the solo's line at a ski lift, for players who are solo queuing to have the option to play a match with a full set of PuG players, or the option to just jump into the regular queue to play with whoever. This would also allow players who don't have headsets and whatnot the option to not be thrown into a premade match up of 4 others where the solo player is often excluded from plays and communication, then flamed for not participating because he or she does not know what is going on. Maybe give solo queue players a faster queue time as a reward for jumping into the regular queue, or a longer queue time for hitting up the solo's queue, or something.

Wow, that was a lot... TL;DR, players should not be matched up against premades if they themselves are not a premade of an equal number, and solo queue players should have the option to either fully solo queue or regular queue with other premades. For fairness. FOR LIGHT!Soraka

Typically , match making matches you with the same number of premades. There are some differences that can affect this, like;

  • Playing at ghost hours
  • High MMR + low MMR in a premade
  • Or you simply don't know that your team has a premade in it
