Improper banning bot

Alright now I'm sitting here wondering now more then ever why I am playing this game, the graphics are good the arts amazing the music is great however the community is something i would like to discuss primarily the ban system.

1.Why are people who use racial slurs and start the arguments never the ones to get banned from what i have seen now i have had 2 friend permmed banned for trying to help out others with their builds while i understand people may not like being told what to build etc etc we have recieved multiple flammatory comments being as calm as "no thanks" to as wild as "go hang yourself and drink bleach" I would like to know why the latter is not taken more seriously because everytime i have reported someone like this I have not gotten a instant feedback report yet but friends defending themselves and explaining how other champs work have gotten permad and there was literally no reason for it even reading their ban logs there was not anything toxic or offensive in there the bot that moderates these bans may actually need some tweaking

2.Why are we having a bot decide who gets to play the game and who doesn't bots are capable of looking at thing logically and lightening up workloads sure but there is a major component a bot can't actually do and that is understand/read the emotions and everything that had happened during the game and no action was done to be seen as to why those words were said etc etc...

3.Why does the bot not seem to count duos/ parties as a single report rather then x3 x4 reports I know for a fact that we have had duos report us and my friend was the one who got unfairly punished for it with the chat restriction that started all of this off in the first place normally i wouldn't be sitting here planning on being a spark that lights a keg and that is not what i am trying to do LoL genuinely has one of the most toxic communities out there and it seems as if there is so little done to even try to stop this again i'm sorry if this seems like a rant i'm just genuinely furious that I keep losing all of my closest friends due to some machine that doesn't understand what actually happened

4.Is there not some sort of way to have a higher level player look at something from the game or watch over the game to see if what was said or done considered toxic or not or to see if there was a reason for it

TLDR: I'm getting fed up of losing all of my friends due to there being no player moderated judgement or something... it just takes it all out of me when a friend i have been playing with for years can no longer play with me because the bot is broken

Using racial slurs is about the easiest way to get banned from the game. Your friends could not possibly get banned for "being helpful", there's definitely a lot more to it than what they told you or what you're letting on. Errors can happen though, and if a player feels they were banned by accident they can submit a Support Ticket and speak to Player Support about appealing it, or getting some reasoning for the ban.

Why are we having a bot decide

Actioning on chat behavior is fairly easy. The Instant Feedback System (IFS) is pretty good at determining severity and frequency of chat offenses that are reported in order to issue a penalty. As mentioned before, if it looks like there was an error, the player can request a manual review of the situation, but the system has a pretty low rate of error (even lower than manual reviews from the Tribunal). It's gameplay behavior that's hard to detect and determine the intent.

Why does the bot not seem to count duos/ parties as a single report

Fortunately, since the Tribunal went away, the IFS actually doesn't care about multiple reports at all, according the the Rioter that writes the system. TLDR; the IFS will review the report at any time there is any report made, and multiple reports in the match do not somehow stack or increase the likelihood of a punishment.

(Going to just number most of my responses because I don't want to get any of this mixed up)

1.Why are people who use racial slurs and start the arguments never the ones to get banned from what i have seen now (cont.)

1 - There is no way to verify if someone has been punished before. The IFS message (report feedback message) is inconsistent, you are not guaranteed to get it. Even if you reported someone who got the most severe punishment (14-day suspension or permanent ban) the message still might not appear. In addition to that: errors can occur, punishments can take time to be doled out, manual reviews are needed (which takes a while as there is a report queue), and someone can stop playing for any length of time.

2 - I really doubt your friends were just trying to "help people out with builds." False reports and multiple reports don't do anything, if your friends were punished, they were breaking the rules as well. Unfortunately I can't go into much further detail than that without actually seeing their chat logs.

1 - Ultimately, a bot is the only solution for a game of League's size. It would take hundreds of thousands of employees to keep up with the sheer amount of reports Riot gets daily, manual reviews are just not a feasible option, unfortunately.

2- Up until about 4-5 years ago there was no automated system and everything was done manually. Riot was unable to keep up with the amount of reports they were receiving, punishments were inconsistent, and when a player-run judgment system was implemented (The Tribunal) it had it's own myriad of issues. Riot developed the Instant Feedback System as a way to regulate punishments and set fair rules for everyone, these rules were based off of the player-created rules of the Tribunal.

3.Why does the bot not seem to count duos/ parties as a single report rather then x3 x4 reports I know for a fact that we have had duos report us and my friend was the one who got unfairly punished for it with the chat restriction that started all of this off in the first place normally (cont.)

1 - At the end of each match, every player receives the ability to file one report. Regardless of who you're partied with or what status you are (Challenger player, unranked, "whale") all that report does is trigger a game for automatic review. It only takes one report to file a game for automatic review, multiple punishments do not increase the likelihood of a punishment being given or an error occuring. Riot has confirmed this themselves. (<-source)

2 - Errors are very rare when it comes to the IFS, your friends most likely broke the rules in some capacity and as mentioned above, I can't really go into further detail without seeing their logs (which you would need them to post, you can't do it for them.)

4.Is there not some sort of way to have a higher level player look at something from the game or watch over the game to see if what was said or done considered toxic or not or to see if there was a reason for it

1 - The only way to have someone review a punishment is by **filing a support ticket, ** where a Riot support agent (does not always mean a Riot employee AKA "Rioters") where review and explain your punishment.

Generally speaking, they do not overturn anything unless it was a legitimate error.

  1. Instant feedback report is notoriously unreliable. It isnt meant to tell you every person you've reported is punished. Their account status isnt any of your business. Its there to remind you that your reports do get reviewed.

  2. Read emotions? These are words on a screen. How are you reading my emotions right now? Am i angry while typing this? Am i calm? Does it even matter?! No. Its about what words are said, not your emotions behind them. The rules are pretty simple and dont require reading and understanding of emotions.

  3. It only takes 1 report to trigger a review. Multiple reports dont increase the likelihood of getting punished. Its about what rules were broken, not how many people report you. That would be stupid af to allow gang reports increasing likelihood of punishments. Come on.

  4. Higher level players how? More skilled at league? Why the fuck would that matter? Your league rank has nothing to do with your comprehension of the rules.

Your TL;DR. The rules are based on what was punished in the tribunal. If you get punished, chances are, you would have been voted to be punished by the players who used the tribunal, as thats what the punishments are based on. Im sure you are tired of losing friends because of the rules. Tell them to stop breaking the rules so you can keep playing together. You gotta be pretty damn ignorant to get your account banned. Like wtf... I've never even gotten a chat restriction. How do you get permabanned?!
