Unfair 14 Day Account Suspension
Now, I'm generally not the type of person to do this kinda thing and I guarantee posts like this around here are a dime a dozen, but I feel like this has or could happen to other players and it might be something that has to be addressed.
So, a little background about myself in game. I'm honor level 3 ( if that means much ), encourage teammates to muteall or just relax/farm if they're having a bad game, and praise teammates for making good plays or not tilting. Does that mean I'm a perfect angel every single time I'm in game? No, of course not. Sometimes I feed into the trolls, let others' flame get to me, and get tilted myself. It happens to almost everyone who plays this game. Now onto the actual matter. Today I received a 14 day ban from league. No warning, no chat restrictions, just a straight up 2 week ban. What is the reason for this you might ask? If it went straight to a 2 week ban I'm obviously guilty, right? Well, let me explain myself.
I was in a normal game with my irl buddy and, as many do with their friends, we busted each others balls a little bit in the beginning of the game. During this exchange of banter I called him a slur that I'm sure each and every one of you has used jokingly towards a friend or heard someone call another in a joking sort of fashion ( and no it wasn't the n word guys...come on). After that, I used the plural version of the word and it wasn't blocked out by the chat filter. This led to me using the word in single tense and plural tense a few more times within the same span of a minute, and talking with others on my team as to whether they can see it or not. After that, all chat was was a typical lol game where I carried my team to a win with good old master yi ( I was getting chests no hate pl0x). After the game I queue up with the same friend and a few others to get into an URF game when I get a message saying that my account has been banned. It logs me out of league, so I open it up again to find out the ban was real and not that message that was going around 2 weeks ago. It gave me chat logs of the previous game I had just played. Obviously I was pretty confused, so I sent a ticket to Riot explaining my situation. After about 5-6 hours of no reply, I decided to chat with a Riot Support staff personally to see if they could fix the issue or at least give me a reason why I had been banned so abruptly.
This led to me speaking with Skeletor ( I think that was his name not 100% though), who informed me that although he saw I was messing around with my friend and that "his team" also agreed that I was testing the filter system in a way, there was nothing they could do to lift the suspension. I tried to explain myself further and although he seemed sympathetic and understood where I was coming from, he stated that there was nothing I can do as slurs, however used, are an automatic 14 day suspension. Obviously, I'm pretty frustrated at the moment. All my previous in game behavior means absolutely nothing all because I sarcastically called my buddy a slur? No warnings, no chat restrictions, just a straight up 14 day ban? Now, I'm not saying I'm completely in the right here. Technically I did breach code of conduct, however sarcastic it may have been. But in situations like this I feel like a 14 day ban is just too harsh of a way to get their point across.
I understand Riot is taking measures to reduce toxicity in game and I'm completely for that agenda, but zero tolerance policies like this are not the way to go about it. It doesn't work in school scenarios, and I don't think they will work for this game. I only have two weeks left until school starts, and I won't even have much time to play once that happens. This situation is really making me just want to quit league all together. It doesn't matter at all about my past instances of good behavior. One bad instance and I'm gone for 14 days? It just doesn't feel like justice to me. I'm just curious if other people have had situations similar to mine honestly. As to whether I'll actually quit league or not, I guess I'll find out on the 27th.
