The Real Problem with Honor and Season Rewards

i started the game last year, finished the season as a silver player. This year I got to gold only to discover that I would be ineligible for the rewards.

I think the biggest frustration isn’t with the rules and boundaries that players have violated; it’s with the messaging and transparency. It would have been a lot easier to avoid potential violations if I had been aware of all the penalties and how to accumulate them.

It felt like I was unaware of consequences until I had accumulated the penalties and from there, the potential for recovery was non-existent.

Context for my specific reason for being banned, as the comments below seem to assume it was for bigotry

I was one checkpoint away when the season ended. I'm Honor 1.3 currently. I think I may still be doomed though because I was banned in August for acquiring too many chat restrictions. I never displayed bigotry in-game chat, mostly excessive typing and flaming feeders, some afk'ing at spawn when the team wouldn't ff at 3/25 score lines. (have since reformed, limited typing)

Jungle in Silver can be so tilting.... sad! Had to malzahar my way out.

The Summoner's Code is fairly clear, as is the terms of use. If you chose not to read either, or else you forgot them, that isn't Riot's fault.

Unless you were suspended, they've extended the date to achieve honor 2 until February. 4 months is a substantial amount of time to gain honor 2 back.

What honor level are you, and were you honor 2 on November 13?

did you know there's a zero tolerance policy on homophobic and racial slurs? say one and it's an instant 14 day ban.

that's only written in the support article targeted at people who have already been banned.

honor 2 being tied to end season rewards had been posted in the News article at the beginning of the season, sometimes during middle of season, and some months ago before end of season. Probably at least 3 times they had been on the front page of LoL's website.

The problem is, if Riot did this, people would be able to take flaming to the max without actually being punished which would cause even more toxicity.
