Is taking kills as a support griefing and reportable?

I just locked Annie support and this guy says that he's going to report me if I take any kills. I don't mean to do it, but sometimes it happens! Can I really get punished?

There's no rule against it. You can have the highest kill count on the team for all Riot cares, especially if you're playing a support with carry capacity like Annie. Your ADC is just a dick.

Voldymort2/22/2019, 2:26:19 PM6 votes

no. it's not something you can be banned over

at the end of the day it's better that the support takes the kill than if

  • the enemy gets away with 10 hp

  • the enemy kills the adc/support and then dies or gets away

  • the enemy kills the adc and the support and dies in the process or gets away after the fact

If you are the ADC and you want the kill then it shouldn't be too hard to out damage the support. and if you can't, assist gold is useful too

As a support main, i'll always keep atacking till they're dead. i don't care who gets the kill as long as they die and if you(the adc) don't like it, TOUGH!

If you're doing it on purpose then yes it could lead to a punishment, but generally no. It happens in all games, kills (being of champion, minion, monsters, ect) aren't for a specific person, or only that role could get them.

Yes and no.

If all you're doing is stealing kills, and aren't really doing shit to contribute, yes.

If you're actually helping, and the kills are either to secure one that the ADC can't get without blowing summs/R, save someone, or just on accident, no.

Although I'd suggest a more meta support, and not Annie...

Sounds like he's just trying to threaten with reports. That type of person I'd definitely mute and play the game.

GreenKnight2/22/2019, 2:20:52 PM3 votes

If you are doing it on accident? Nope, everything should be fine. Stealing kills happens all the time for me, and i have not been accused of griefing by Riot's system.

Wtf is with the answers here.

No, people, "kill stealing" is not a punishable action in League, regardless of champ or role. Is it a bad idea to take a kill from your carry? Yes, most of the time. Does that make it against the rules? Nope.

BradNo2/22/2019, 3:39:38 PM2 votes

Fuck your adc. He/She/It is probably garbage, anyway.

No

Tele II2/23/2019, 3:01:12 AM1 votes

No. Youre fine.

SammyDayspring2/23/2019, 3:03:05 AM1 votes

No. There is no rule that says you have to play the meta at all. People need to calm down.

Actually, threatening to report someone has probably a better chance of being punished than many of the reasons that get stated.

This subject has 2 sides to it.

If you're going out of your way to steal kills and aren't playing to win or playing like a support then yes.

I have reported many supports for this and gotten quite a few Instant feedback reports.

Taking some accidentally isn't. It's better the gold goes to a carry but if they can't secure it then you should.

CloakAndGrenade2/25/2019, 7:45:38 PM1 votes

It's not griefing if you get kills as a support. Pyke is literally designed for that explicit purpose. Sure, there are certainly scenarios where it is better that your ADC gets the gold than you but this is not universal nor is it a reason not to take kills if they become available. Especially if your ADC isn't in a position to grab them or is at the risk of dying. Just mute these people and focus.

Ahri Baka2/22/2019, 2:29:16 PM1 votes

No there is no rule against taking kills no matter what are you especially that you are Annie , a carry However , it's not a good thing take kills as something like Janna or Soraka especially with this shut down system But still taking a kill or two doesn't mean it's the end of the world

ChaosReyn2/22/2019, 2:31:55 PM1 votes

Is taking them reportable on its own? No.

Is it reportable if you literally wait until your adc dies to take any active role in the fight, just to be sure they're not "his" kills anymore? Absolutely.

Sir Saltarin2/22/2019, 2:52:34 PM1 votes

No, it's unfortunate often but you cant be punished for it and I'm glad of that

Kei1432/22/2019, 2:59:11 PM1 votes

Supports being on low income is just part of the META (Most Effective Tactic Available). Gold typically is more useful on other carry champs, but there is no hard rule on it.

Netorare2/22/2019, 6:00:07 PM1 votes

You should always take the kills as a support if u get the opportunity because ur gonna carry ur useless adc ass till he gonna reach his viable point. If he cant last hit champs its his fault.

Scottsc202/23/2019, 1:20:00 AM1 votes

No, it's not. This person is just a toxic ass.

DOUBLE TAPPED E2/23/2019, 2:56:39 AM1 votes

No. ADCs who don't know how to KS will probably spend most of the game on a grey screen anyway.

I would know, I put them there! [katarina-love]

Anomander2/23/2019, 3:00:26 AM1 votes

Riots official stance on ks is that KILL SECURING is never punishable.....
