A "Short" Talk About Toxicity
I just wrapped up a match that was supposed to be fun; it was a normals match, it was a premade of 5, we were thinking of different skin compositions we could use and ended up using a Yordle composition, and we were all in Skype. Things were off to an okay start; however, clear skies would not last long. As one of the players performed not too well, she began saying things in Skype and typing things into our team chat along the lines of "I'm done. I can't do this anymore."
Yes. I've been in situations where I've played not too well either. 0/8 Vladimir mid? I've done it. But what I haven't done is give up. Despite how poorly I'm doing, even if I'm being dove repeatedly by Jax, Renekton, or Irelia top, I don't give up.
There are a few things that players should know about this game:
- This game is a lot more fun when you're not negative. Being negative, especially to your own team, doesn't make anyone's time better, nonetheless your own. Just enjoy the game, and if you're not having as good of a time as you'd like, try not to bring down the experience for your teammates (especially if you're in Skype with them and friends with some of them).
- Play as though there's a chance for a comeback because, well, there is.
- It's just a
prankgame, bruh! Sometime over the past 2 years, I've come to realize that my negativity led to me not enjoying the game as much as well as making myself less enjoyable of a friend to play with. Since then, I've limited myself to only saying neutral or positive things in chat [ sometimes I'll trash talk my team over Skype :^) ].
A loss is frustrating if you let it be frustrating. Or you can make the best of every experience that you have in this game. I love playing with friends and formulating cool skin and team compositions, and it's all the better when they work! Regardless of whether I'm with 4 other random players, in duo queue, or with a premade of 5, never will I ever create a toxic environment for my teammates because what is even the point?
Thanks, and have a good one ;)
