We deserve an explanation for why @Tantram thought it was appropriate to tie honor to ranked

We still don't have report cards Tantram explicitly promised us. We still don't have ANY of the other increased transparency Tantram explicitly promised us. We still don't have ANY of the other behavior-related features Riot has hinted at over the last two years. We still don't have warnings re-added to the game.

I don't understand why Riot would think for a second that this is appropriate in the current state of the honor system when they should be adding those things first, and then tying honor into existing systems. Does your team not care about shipping a finished product before you force it onto mature systems that have been in place for 8 years? Are you just not accountable for the quality of your product the way other teams at Riot are? I want to understand why this takes priority over actually finishing your product.

Honor 2.0 feels more like Honor 0.2. You have TWO YEARS to finish up Honor 2.0 before tying it into other systems and you have made literally no progress. Not a single new feature (even ones that were explicitly confirmed) has been added since Honor 2.0 launched.

Cz I highly doubt you need an upgraded Honor system to just not be toxic.

Honor isn't really tied to Ranked. Your honor doesn't affect your rank or your access to the game mode. What they did is tie rewards to honor, which is debatable, but logical. You can still play Ranked and climb the ladder. You can still receive a high rank. You just aren't getting the bonus aesthetic rewards (exception: Challenger backpack is tangible) if you drop below the baseline behavior expectations, but you can climb all the way to top Challenger with Honor locked at 0.

Hmm.? Tantram never promised us anything in regards to what he's working on.

The latest hint that Tantram has hinted was https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behavior-moderation/jZzbL8JG-semi-annual-reminder-we-havent-gotten-monthly-status-cards-yet, which was 7 months ago, not 2 years ago.

Honors 2.0 got iceboxed long time ago.

Care to share a source for those explicit promises? Not saying they don't exist, but I'm here pretty often and can't say I remember any. And it wouldn't be the first time people confuse "we are currently working on X" with a promise.

Is that a joke? Look at this client, dude. It's hot garbage. Look at the balance team.

If anything, the player behavioral team deserves a fucking medal for doing something that's not complete shit.

Tantram is a coder and engineer. He works on implementing the system.

He does not, to my knowledge, set most of the policy. And he certainly doesn't set the policy for ranked.

From /dev: More on 2019 Ranked Rewards:

WHY DOES MY HONOR LEVEL AFFECT RANKED REWARDS?

It might seem counterintuitive to some players that we withhold rewards and reward progress below a certain Honor threshold, but—to us—sportsmanship is a big deal in competitive play, both in and outside of League.

When we look at the most successful Ranked players, they’re the ones who can stay cool under pressure, lead their teams in difficult circumstances, and work together to win games. Ranked rewards are all about bragging rights and recognizing success, so we can use Honor to make sure you’re being a good teammate before we hand them out.

The short, sweet, & simple version is - Ranked is a competitive thing, and competition has the requirement of sportsmanship.
