Permanently Suspended for the Usage of Third-Party Programs.

So using custom skins and custom splash arts is against the EULA now? - League of Legends Community

I was permanently suspended following the usage of Third Party programs. Many people on the forums are banned for the usage of MKjogo or MKlol. I was a user of this program before but I have not used it in almost 6 months. MKjogo is considered the only program that Riot suspends people that use it because they had briefly made an announcement about it. However, I was permanently suspended for the usage of a program that Riot did not say was considered "illegal" which is known as SkinPreview, thus I am dazed that I did not at least receive a warning or a temporary ban. I would have just stopped using the program and all others as well if I had received a warning of some sort. In addition to this, if we look at Rioter's responses on their forums this is what I have found:

"In our case, we've made a decision that custom skins/splashes aren't necessarily hurting the business. Our business is in making our players happy - the ability to custom stuff is likely what keeps certain people interested in our game, and acts as a force multiplier for other people. From that perspective, banning people is incredibly stupid. We're forcing people out of our game, and lessening the experience of other players, for no real clear benefit."

"Custom creation will always be at your own risk - updates may break functionality, etc. But we also aren't going to just toss out arbitrary bans. It's not in our players' interests, and so it's definitely not in ours." "but we generally don't ban for anything unless it's clearly harmful to LoL or our players. The vast majority of custom splashes/skins will NOT fall into this bucket." "I'm not aware of any, but if you believe you ARE a legitimate case of being banned solely for modification of skins/splash art, send in a support ticket with specifics and reference me in the ticket. I can promise one of two things: a) it will be corrected; or b) you'll get a good explanation why it won't be"

So once again, I am confused why you guys are very inconsistent about custom skin programs and such, you guys should be more transparent about matters like these I would never use these custom skin programs. Thanks in advance, I hope to receive my account back as I dedicated a lot of money and time into it :(

looking forward to a measured response to this, as i feel that handing out any kind of punishment over something like this isn't something that should have happened

Just riot logic...

just don't use third party programs then. you play the risk you pay the price. "Oh i didn't know this wasn't allowed!" or you can just play the game normally like everyone else have, and respect the policy riot has. learn from this and move on :)

I'd like to see a response to this, too. I've always seen custom skins as a gray area, personally: On one hand, they inspire creativity, fan art, and a stronger sense of attachment to the game. On the other hand…Cheapskates could use them as a way to not have to buy a skin to enjoy it.

And Riot's stance on this seems, at first glance, to be against it, when you read the rules literately. "No third-party programs" DOES include custom skins. But it doesn't seem to fit with the spirit behind that rule, which is more obviously designed against cheating (how you could get anything more complex than aimbots, I don't know…). So…thanks for bringing that specific part of what they've said to light (I'd been thinking of maybe getting a custom skin, but I wasn't sure if that was against the rules).

My question is this: how did they find out? It's not like skins would do anything discernible…

Can you get banned for voice packs? Because I just got banned but the only change was the client being in Japanese. I was just wondering if that could be the reason of my banning.

9/10 times one of these ban waves come out (3rd party suspensions are always waves, as the front page of PB&M implies), people who claim innocence either:

  1. Shared their account with a friend who uses 3rd-party software (account holder is responsible for their account).
  2. Gave out their account info to a booster who uses 3rd-party software to easily win games (see above, plus boosting itself is against the TOS).
  3. Have another 3rd-party software (or had one at some point) and are lying about it.

Not saying you're guilty, there is always a small chance of a false-positive. Just saying that I'm not 100% convinced due to an overwhelming history of posters before you.

Good luck.
