I was recently diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.

My account also recently got temp banned for arguing with trolls. The trolls in this game are "online bullies". If my account gets permabanned I am going to sue Riot for allowing this to happen. I have suffered alot of mental anguish because of this. My Thanksgiving was almost ruined. But thank God I am not an asshole, so I was able to be thankful for what I had and not let it affect me. But this is a warning to you Riot. Your game is a perfect outlet for online bullies. All they have to do is troll one person and "bait" them into cussing and then give them multiple reports. The new poorly made system auto punishes anybody who gets multiple reports without looking at the context.

And to anybody who says "Yeah well you cussed also so you're just as guilty". You wouldn't punish someone with Asperger's in real life. Why would you punish them online?

I'm also sure a lot of people who have gotten banned on this game for chat reasons have mental illnesses. I'm sensing a big lawsuit coming on.

As someone that actually has Aspergers... you disgust me for trying to use it to not be held responsible for your actions.

I was recently diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.

I'm sorry to hear that. My roommate has that as well and I know how difficult it can make social interactions.

My account also recently got temp banned for arguing with trolls. The trolls in this game are "online bullies".

I'm sorry to hear that as well and agree that trolls in this game are online bullies.

If my account gets permabanned I am going to sue Riot for allowing this to happen.

No, you won't. And if you try, you will lose. In the terms of service that you agree to twice every time the game patches, it tells you that Riot can deny you access to their technically free game for any reason whatsoever or no reason at all. You do not have a winnable lawsuit here.

I have suffered alot of mental anguish because of this. My Thanksgiving was almost ruined. But thank God I am not an asshole, so I was able to be thankful for what I had and not let it affect me.

I'm sorry to hear this, but I'm glad you got through it pretty well. :)

But this is a warning to you Riot.

You are not a threat to them.

Your game is a perfect outlet for online bullies. All they have to do is troll one person and "bait" them into cussing and then give them multiple reports. The new poorly made system auto punishes anybody who gets multiple reports without looking at the context.

This is incorrect. Reports are measured by number of games reported in, not by total number of reports. On top of that, context matters very infrequently. Retaliation only exacerbates the toxicity and makes the defender just as vulnerable as the instigators. The proper response is to mute the toxic individuals and report after the game. If you don't retaliate in the chat, then their reports will mean nothing.

And to anybody who says "Yeah well you cussed also so you're just as guilty". You wouldn't punish someone with Asperger's in real life. Why would you punish them online?

Actually, having Asperger's Syndrome does not make you exempt from punishments in the real world. It means that what you say and how you are spoken to needs to be more carefully handled in court, but you can still be brought to court/arrested/etc. just like any other citizen accused of a crime.

I'm also sure a lot of people who have gotten banned on this game for chat reasons have mental illnesses. I'm sensing a big lawsuit coming on.

I don't doubt that mentally ill people have had their accounts banned from this game in the past. However, there is no lawsuit to be made. Handicapped or no, Riot's terms of service hold the legal power here. It isn't discrimination either, because everyone is held to the same standards.

What happened with your account is unfortunate, but at least it's only a temporary ban. My suggestion to you would be to mute all other players upon entering a match if you think someone might be toxic and just use pings to communicate. Another possible solution would be to unbind the enter key in your settings so that you cannot use the chat function. You can't be banned for toxic chat if you don't chat at all. Then you can just mute trolls as soon as they begin and report them after the game.

I really hope you have a wonderful day, and happy late Thanksgiving! :)

person with disability gets treated like everyone else

Pretty sure you weren't recently diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome because they stopped using that terminology with the release of the DSM-5 in 2013. Sorry, guy. You'll have to find another excuse for being foul-mouthed. Me? I'm just an asshole. Own it.

alasarcher11/27/2015, 5:47:22 PM4 votes

You cant really sue riot as in terms it basically says they can perma ban your account at any point for any reason, and you agreed to them. You signed contract, so law suit will be rejected.

Just because you or someone else has a mental illness doesn't mean you get to do whatever you want because you're "handicapped" you know the rules, you signed the contract, you can't pull the disabled card because you fucked up and broke the rules.

if your mental illness "makes you kill someone" IRL you may not get the death penalty but you're sure as shit spending the rest of your days behind bars, maybe not in Gen Pop prison but def a loony bin.

Rules are rules, if you're not handicapable enough to follow them, you have a couple options;

  1. Quit playing
  2. Play till you get banned, cry a little, find something else to do.
  3. Find a game that has no rules. (good luck)
  4. Make your own game without rules and watch how successful quickly it fails.

Have you read through the entire terms of service? Have you ever once Broken a single rule in it? Can you afford a drawn out court case with a company the size of riot? People with mental disabilities don't get free passes in real life dispite what you seen to think. I know people with aspergers and its a shame you are trying to use it to privilege yourself while they are trying to hard to be treated and act as humans instead of being treated by people as special.

xSleepy11/30/2015, 5:19:16 PM2 votes

i don't think you'll find anyone who's more sensitive to issues involving asperger's syndrome than me, but you can't sue them over mental anguish, and honestly it's kind of sad that you want to. if you're having mental anguish over the game, stop playing the game. otherwise, learn to use the mute button, and stop arguing with people. quit using your condition as a crutch, and learn to live with it. a big part of living with asperger's involves learning to deal with social problems. adapt.

You're an idiot thinking you can sue Riot.

When you signed the ToS, you made yourself a part of this community...you acknowledged that there are elements in this game that may be unsavory, yet you still entered.

Riot will have a day in court with you where they legally say "get rekt, Scrub" and counter sue you for anguishing them. and slandering their good name in such a way.

not only will you keep the ban, they will legally bend you over and give you the full extent of legal boning they can if they desire...and perhaps make you pay for the privilege.

"I got aspergers...I got bullied, I'm hurt because I'm getting one sided by a ruthless company and the mean community"

To that I say "get over yourself you stupid git and take a moment to consider the level that your stupidity has ascended to."

Colgate Gator11/30/2015, 3:54:13 PM2 votes

The self-entitlement is real.

I thought people with Asperger syndrome couldn't handle what they say, not what they enter - ragetype - enter. If your alledged condition truly makes you unable to play in a social enviorement, it's up to you to either handle it or not play at all, not us to put up with you. If it comes to rock-bottom, unbind your enter key or something.

Also, it's the internet, by default we don't believe your medical statement, as many people will try to weasel their way out of problems with such methods.

If they did something that was punishable then they would be punished in real life as well. I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis but that doesn't give you the right to say negative things to other players regardless of the things they say or the way they treat you.

You're gonna need this shirt bad:

Plus, no one cares about your syndrome, as ANY banned players would use the same excuse as well. Guy having symptoms/diseases/Dunkey, all should still be treated the same.

MobiIe Ward11/29/2015, 1:35:45 PM1 votes

Just reading some of the comments and the upvotes that they got. Their must be alot of backwards thinking Republicans in this country. I guess that would explain why Trump is doing so well in the polls.

Shonjl11/27/2015, 8:28:00 PM1 votes

You can't touch Riot. When you agreed to their ToS. You lost any rights you had as long as you are in their world.

PIMPSMOOTH11/27/2015, 9:21:18 PM1 votes

You're not suing anyone. Bluff called. You fold.

Samus7211/27/2015, 9:35:49 PM1 votes

You waste the justice system's time with frivolous lawsuits. Pity that judges don't look at waste-of-time cases, throw them out, then fine the submitter.

1 800 MID LANE11/29/2015, 1:40:26 PM1 votes

By playing the game, you agreed that Riot is not to be held accountable to in-game interactions.

Also, I don't think you realized how many people you just insulted trying to use your own illness as a reason to not be punished and a poor attempt at using it as a weapon against someone.
