I was recently diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.
I'm sorry to hear that. My roommate has that as well and I know how difficult it can make social interactions.
My account also recently got temp banned for arguing with trolls. The trolls in this game are "online bullies".
I'm sorry to hear that as well and agree that trolls in this game are online bullies.
If my account gets permabanned I am going to sue Riot for allowing this to happen.
No, you won't. And if you try, you will lose. In the terms of service that you agree to twice every time the game patches, it tells you that Riot can deny you access to their technically free game for any reason whatsoever or no reason at all. You do not have a winnable lawsuit here.
I have suffered alot of mental anguish because of this. My Thanksgiving was almost ruined. But thank God I am not an asshole, so I was able to be thankful for what I had and not let it affect me.
I'm sorry to hear this, but I'm glad you got through it pretty well. :)
But this is a warning to you Riot.
You are not a threat to them.
Your game is a perfect outlet for online bullies. All they have to do is troll one person and "bait" them into cussing and then give them multiple reports. The new poorly made system auto punishes anybody who gets multiple reports without looking at the context.
This is incorrect. Reports are measured by number of games reported in, not by total number of reports. On top of that, context matters very infrequently. Retaliation only exacerbates the toxicity and makes the defender just as vulnerable as the instigators. The proper response is to mute the toxic individuals and report after the game. If you don't retaliate in the chat, then their reports will mean nothing.
And to anybody who says "Yeah well you cussed also so you're just as guilty". You wouldn't punish someone with Asperger's in real life. Why would you punish them online?
Actually, having Asperger's Syndrome does not make you exempt from punishments in the real world. It means that what you say and how you are spoken to needs to be more carefully handled in court, but you can still be brought to court/arrested/etc. just like any other citizen accused of a crime.
I'm also sure a lot of people who have gotten banned on this game for chat reasons have mental illnesses. I'm sensing a big lawsuit coming on.
I don't doubt that mentally ill people have had their accounts banned from this game in the past. However, there is no lawsuit to be made. Handicapped or no, Riot's terms of service hold the legal power here. It isn't discrimination either, because everyone is held to the same standards.
What happened with your account is unfortunate, but at least it's only a temporary ban. My suggestion to you would be to mute all other players upon entering a match if you think someone might be toxic and just use pings to communicate. Another possible solution would be to unbind the enter key in your settings so that you cannot use the chat function. You can't be banned for toxic chat if you don't chat at all. Then you can just mute trolls as soon as they begin and report them after the game.
I really hope you have a wonderful day, and happy late Thanksgiving! :)
