Anecdotal evidence. Just because people on your list who happen to be female mainly play support roles doesn't mean that all of them do. Likewise not all male players mainly play carry roles. At the end of the day it all varies from person to person.
Female gamer here. I main ADC and Jungle, while occasionally playing top and support, and rarely mid lane. Not to mention I have other female friends on league who mostly play non support.
There's probably a lot more who don't advertise their gender.
I'd imagine they don't want the hassle of getting called out and told to "go back to support" or something.
The sexism in this thread is disheartening. Please stop generalizing, OP and others. Women play all roles and all genders in this game, just like men. smh

The two female League players I know generally play mid, top, and ADC. I wind up supporting them a lot more often than them supporting me.
Even if we assume you are correct (your sample is pretty much just anecdotal, it doesn’t establish anything) the fact is that this question doesn’t provide anyone any useful information so it shouldn’t really matter to you.
Just play the game, be courteous to other players, and remember that players of all types come from all walks of life.

I do it so I can have more fun playing with my duo, who usually selects ADC when playing with with me. It's the only lane where you can have two people without being called out for trolling. That being said, I do also play JG and ADC, as these are the three roles that I feel all the most "social" roles where you get to interact the most with your duo.
I also like supp because I can sit back and BM-I mean not farm
i have a female friend who has been maining
ever since he came out. you're refferencing a sexist generalisation.
I’m male and I prefer playing the support role. I’m just not confident enough to dish out huge damage in high-pressure environments.
I don't know man, but that's fair enough. I met three other female support mains in a game I was in, it was pretty neat not gonna lie. Why are people giving you so much crap, this is more funny than anything else.
