How riot can do a better job of dealing with player behavior

STEP 1. crack down harder on gameplay trolling lets face it, your troll prevention sucks ass, and the "bad game" excuse doesnt fly when a tahm kench anivia duo can throw over 500 games in a row and still only get a 14 day ban, and ONLY because they made it on the front page of reddit. odds are now theyre just going to be more subtle. GETTING CAUGHT throwing games should be an instant permaban after a single valid report, trolls arent afraid because people KNOW as long as you stay quiet in chat, and don't just flat out run down mid or build multiple boots/tears, the odds of you being banned are incredibly low, and even then it starts at a 14 day ban. and by the time you get caught again, your punishment level will have very likely decayed despite continuing to troll.

STEP 2. Improve visibility and trust Currently, visibility with the player behavior system is practically nonexistent. and several myths have developed as a result. and people don't trust the system to do it's job, which often leads to feeling hopeless, and people trying to take matters into their own hands, often by counter trolling or by flaming in chat. a single popup if you're the "last straw" doesnt do shit. and then when people report countless toxic players and get the popup one time out out of every 50 "usually for chat" it feeds into the myth that riot only cares about chat.

Step 3. bring back warnings

Currently, you actually have to be chat restricted before you even realize you're breaking the rules, combined with the fact that riot will punish for incredibly trivial things in chat. this leads to people talking normally for several games. and being shocked when they get slapped with a chat ban when they've been typing the same way for multiple games without even being warned they were breaking the rules.

Last time you came up with money as a means to punish players. More bad ideas here.

Going to start early in your post here, this part disturbs me greatly. You're describing a normal person playing league, just because someone is dying a lot does not automatically mean they are intentionally feeding. People are allowed to be bad at games, punishing someone for that is just plain wrong. The important thing here is intent.

which often leads to feeling hopeless, and people trying to take matters into their own hands, often by counter trolling or by flaming in chat.

Letting your emotions get the better of you can lead to rash decisions. You can defend yourself by muting, and reporting toxic behavior after games. Flaming at trolls will not accomplish anything but getting yourself punished in the system. Plus, didn't anyone ever tell you not to feed the trolls?

This is my favorite part. Ignorance is not a valid excuse for breaking rules. The rules are referred to in the ToU that everyone agrees to upon making an account, and upon every time it is updated thereafter (patch days). Just as being ignorant to the laws in the U.S. is not a valid excuse, it is the same here. You are under contract with Riot to do your due diligence in learning and abiding by the rules in order to keep yourself in good standing with Riot who is rendering their service to you.

In conclusion

Although I agree with you that players who intentionally feed and intentionally troll and throw games (see Anivia wall, Tahm Kench W) should be punished immediately with a permanent ban when caught, I believe that your views of what is actually trolling and what is an excuse for breaking rules is clouding your vision.

I believe personally that all reports about intentional feeding and throwing games should be inspected by a human being to determine intent. If intent is not found and the report is seen to be false, the person who submitted the report should be notified of the difference between intentionally attempting to ruin a game, and just sucking.

They dont give a fuck, they leave it to a bot and unless you are popular you will either get an unban if the ban was for a wrong reason or you may get someone banned for a certain reason if it was on stream. For typical everyday League players they will not listen to us for any reason because they'd rather keep buffing already busted champs and breaking the game even worse.

Get out.

There are so many games played every day, there's no way Riot can crack down on every single troll. However, I feel your concerns. Losing 10 games in a row because someone refuses to fight with the team because you took their blue or something silly is really a thing of the past. People need to get over themselves. I wish Riot had a way to see that a player may not be AFK, but they're just standing in the jungle avoiding the game.
