A New Beginning.
Sorry for the crap title, but hear me out. I started off this season, as toxic as most people, in Bronze V. I am now in Bronze II, with a new perspective on things. It used to be "if you treat me poorly, then i do the same. i fight fire with fire." But now, it's "if you treat me poorly, then i give little response. you're a dick, but i don't like losing, so let's go." I really enjoyed flame wars, but they got repetitive. "kys," "bad," birth, mother, and genital jokes were the most common. Nowadays, it's not even fun to be toxic, so why even bother? In my experience with these people, I learned that there were some similarities, or patterns, as to why each fight occurs.

"I'm right, you're wrong." This is the most common. A mistake is made and someone just pointed it out. Person B tries to defend himself, or just flat out lies. Then, well, you know what happens. Even though these are the most common, they are the most ridiculous. In these scenarios, nobody wins. Person A either feels like crap or feels incredible. The same goes for Person B. Usually, games are lost due to these arguments because they hesitate to save each other, they refuse to group, etc.

"I'm having a bad day, and you made it worse." Exactly what you think it is. Person A has had a long day, and came home to his computer to relieve stress. Sometimes another person in their life treated them especially poorly, or whatever the case may be. He hops into a game and doesn't do as well do to the frustration, stress, and anger. Either the insults deal much greater dents, or this person is extremely volatile. Maybe Person B is in the same boat, and they don't see each other as human, so chaos ensues.
(I've no more reasons at the moment, but maybe you do. Leave it in the comments, if you like, and maybe I'll add it to this list.)
We're all human. Why is that forgotten in the Fields of Justice? Probably because it's a video game, and we're here to have fun. I honestly don't blame the people that must respond to all negativity, but who does it really help? Your ego doesn't matter, especially when you probably won't see those players again. I currently have a 9 ranked game win streak, and I didn't tell you all of this, just to set up a brag, no. I am telling you this because I believe, with no doubt in my mind, that you can change. We've been doing it for our entire lives, so why not now? I'm not perfect, I still flame, but I have limited myself. You can do the same.
A wise summoner, by the name of SugoiTea, once told me: **"..the most important thing a summoner must master is to have a clear mind." **
Also, in the world of Naruto, you must bury your emotions in battle, to avoid having an extra weakness that your opponent can exploit. The same logic can be applied to League of Legends. Don't let your emotions affect your gameplay. Don't type out your problems in /all chat. The enemy either doesn't care, or will try to break you, mentally.
Before I go, asking someone to report another player is report-able, so stop. Here's a quote from Broken Blade, a rioter, that proves this to be true. **"...please refrain from asking for reports in game as this is considered a form of negativity as well." **
