Please help me understand.. how did I get chat restricted over THIS?

I played against this Vi who was trash talking all game (we had a new Kayle player, and he was 1/8 on lane vs LB). I reported her after the game ended, I got a notification thanking me for helping report a toxic player. IRONICALLY, I then got chat restricted for 10 games. Can you please tell me if this is justifiable? I didn't even cuss and I was only defending myself against a toxic player. 3 of our teammates were also talking back against this Vi.

So you're saying that instead of using this crazy, new fangled 'mute' button for the Vi, and anyone else who was being toxic, you decided to engage in their negativity and end up being toxic yourself?

And no the chatlog isn't that awful (I did read it, btw) but it's definitely negative and toxic (i.e. "delusional child"). Whether you were replying to someone who may have been a massive jerk or not is beside the point. Like that's literally not how it works. Idek why you're upset over a 10 game chat restriction anyway. Like fuckin own it and move on.

I'd guess general negativity. Plus, calling for reports is considered hassrassment, I believe? It's unnecessary, because only one report is needed to trigger a review, multiple reports doesn't do anything, and you could just wait until the end of the game and do it without being unnecessarily negative and mildly toxic by telling them you're going to.

Yours is obviously a low level smurf account. You don't have many games played to dampen out the frequency x severity punishment level. Is this the only game shown on your feedback card? I have a hard time imagine this is your only toxic game considering you are quite a toxic smurf in this game.

I believe this is dumb to get punished for. I have said and dealt with way worse every day.

I am extremely confused as to where the line is between punishment and no punishment. I mean... I occasionally get people threatening to rape and kill my family, but their accounts remain active like they did nothing wrong lol

It's laughable that you got chat banned for that but hey, it's riot, and money is more important than people's experiences so they'd rather spend their on yachts than on paying people to make a discipline system that works right.

It's also very telling how this community loves to downvote posts that display any sort of rebellion against Riot's corrupt system. Sure, my chat log shows a slight degree of 'toxicity', but it's not extreme and I was just merely defending myself against a flaming troll. Why/when has this community become such snowflakes? In real life, if someone talks sh!t about you in front of your face, would you just quietly accept it and not say anything back? ALL THE TIME? Surely everyone has their breaking point. Same with online games. Too many trolls, too many times I've stayed quiet. It's only fair you talk back at them?

I saw a youtube vid that basically says that if you talk and ppl report you, you can get chat restricted over a 'negativity' clause, people can INT but if they don't talk, and you try to make them correct their path via text and both report each other, you're the one getting affected. So basically we need to avoid communication via text because the system isn't adequate enough.
