Trying to convince my friend that Xayah and Graves Mid doesn't work

So, I've been playing League since 2017, and a good friend of mine and I started playing this year. Only one bad thing: she mains Caitlyn Mid but also plays Xayah exclusively on mid and usually goes 0/10/2 or something along those lines. She recently said she'd be picking up Graves and trying him mid, to which I said that Graves literally cannot work mid with champions like Zed and Zoe shredding Graves easily. I would like some help or at least tell me what I should tell her to get her to play the characters where they are meant to go.

I humbly apologize if this is the wrong place to put this advice, for this is my first time on the Boards.

I mean who says they cant? Technically speaking when League first came out that is where ADC were meant to be played. I mean if your friend is good with those champions (or plays on playing them exclusively thus getting to understand them a lot more) there is no reason you cant help encourage them.

Without people like your friend we wouldn't have a change in the meta and we would all be stuck playing the same boring roles/champions over and over again.

Until you are playing at the highest level, anything can work.

He needs to understand the strengths and mechanics of his champs and his match ups. He needs to learn what the matchup goals are in lane and in mid game and then learn how to be opportunistic by taking advantage of enemy's mistakes.

On the other hand, you might want to take it easy on trying to force the META on someone else.

Uhm, in theory all champions can go in any role, what changes is the difficulty to pull it off successfully. I mean vayne, quin and twitch can go jungle, and vayne and quin can go top lane too. Kennen can play as ap, as adc, as attack speed. Also i have witness ad Alistar top this season in ranked twice- AND HE fucking won his lane- we won the game late though cause the rest of the team was behind and we pull the win with a fast baron but thats for other discusion.

MY POINT IS that if your friend commit to it and can learn how to make it work then sure why not. Are we cops and he commits a crime? Since he is new player he may find a bizzare way to make things work. Till then YES graves,xayah and cait isnt mid lane material- but neither blitzkrank was or fiddlesticks and i went even with them in lane( i didnt kill them or i killed them once on the laning phase).

Tell him to learn ap lulu. Literally can play everything decent but jungle.

Xayah and Cait work in mid.

Graves is the real problem his range sucks for mid lane

They absolutely can go mid, you just have to be aware of what that champ can and can't do.

So, if you take Graves mid you do so knowing he has relatively short range and has to be careful with ranged champs. If you take Xayah need to be aware of how squishy she is and not get blown up. You can totally do it.

Ezreal and Varus used to go mid all the time.

Yeah, my problem isn't that she's going mid with them it's that she goes mid with them and gets destroyed in there but doesn't realize it. Like I said she goes 0/10/2 on Xayah Mid and ends up feeding.

I've been playing League since 2009, and nearly every champion can easily run mid.

From the sounds of it your friend just needs practice or to find a better role for her to run. Since she like Graves, has she tried going jungle?

Duuuude i have a friend who does the same shit. When he plays with me and my friends he says shit like "i just cant play with you guys, everyone is too good" but then at the same time disregards any advice we give him. Simple shit like buy potions. Go flash ignite support. He thinks if he doesnt buy potions rightaway, he can back earlier because he will have more gold. He goes teleport support. Its ridiculous. He refuses to listen but knows that we are better. Hes been hardstuck bronze for 5+years, and has been iron since it came out. Just stubborn. So i dont know what to tell you, because your friend might be as stubborn as mine. He wants me to go urgot bottom while he plays yuumi and just sticks to me lol. Like no dude, you want me to basically 2v1 in a lane where they will most likely have longer range than me. Its so weird.

And im fine with off meta shit. I play anivia mid, adc, or support. But when its not working, at least try the meta till you get better. He always says fuck this game and shit like why do i play? Its clearly not fun for him getting crushed. So why not try something more optimal and maybe doing well will be fun? Lol.

If your friend is struggling currently then I would suggest she try some custom bot matches or even co-op vs. ai to try to get better before jumping back into pvp (assuming that's all she's been playing recently). Sure Caitlyn, Graves and Xayah aren't traditional mid-laners but if she practices with them enough then she could potentially be really good with them at that role. That said rather than try to force your will onto her try supporting and teaching her instead (if she's willing to listen and be taught that is-it goes both ways after all).
