Is the League of Legends Report System Actually Helpful??

This is something I want to make some comments about and see what other people's opinions on it are. The League of Legends reporting system and system of penalties related to reporting.

I recently got a 10 game chat restriction and bonked from honor level 3 to 1 after playing a game with a toxic player. I picked the wrong champion for my position on accident and he flamed me. Essentially what Riot Support told me, was that because I said things that were not "related to the gameplay" and not "friendly banter" the toxic players claims of negative attitude were justified...

If you review the game and the chat logs of every player it is VERY obvious that although I may have gotten annoyed by this guy who was flaming me and accusing me of things like intentionally feeding, I was NOT the toxic player of this game. However because this player decided to report me and Riot saw that my chat was not "related to the gameplay" or "friendly banter" the claims were justified and I deserved the penalties I got. Even after providing context of the entire chat logs to Riot support they denied me with the same response.

It's kind of weird that all of the sudden I'm hearing that this is how Riot decides whether or not you deserve a penalty, but when I look in the summoners code it says nothing like this whatsoever. Really this system is not setup well at all and people are getting punished for things they never even knew were punishable..

The current system does not ban toxic players, the current system bans players who have been reported. While half the time the people reported are friendly people being reported by toxic people..

It makes sense though in terms of how reporting works. You are the one who is getting reported/punished. What does someone else chat have to do with your actions/behavior? Yes you messed up, and as long as your didnt retaliate with the person flaming you wouldnt have gotten punished. Since that isnt the case, there is more to this story than you are letting on. So it would be wise to show us your chatlogs if you want us to take this seriously.

The current system does ban toxic player. Looking on this par to the board will tell you that. You seem to be under the impression that there can only be one toxic person. when that is rarely the case. If someone is flaming you and you flame back. both of you are in the wrong, not just the one starting it. You could have been the bigger person and mute them and continue to play the game!

I have gotten those notifications that tell you that the player you reported has gotten punished so I think they're useful?

Ok I have the chatlogs saved on my other computer so I will post them when I get a chance, so far what I see is that even being mildly toxic (IE. calling someone bad) will be punishable, in my chatlogs I didn't call this guy ANYTHING, all I was doing was arguing with him when he was claiming that I was inting, because I didn't want him to get everyone to report me for no reason... And apparently to Riot support JUST replying is punishable... Honestly if arguing with someone considers you "Far below the standards of the League of Legends community" Then that REALLY should be made clear. I can GUARANTEE that you wont find a SINGLE player in the entire League of Legends community who has NEVER argued with a toxic player, might as well ban everyone for being "far below the standards of the League community" Again Ill post my chat logs soon.

Well yea, what the player support said is correct.

They system punishes based on consistency x serverity. Meaning that if you got punished, either it's super serve, or you've displayed a consistent behavior of toxicity (even if it was mild toxicity).

post your chatlogs, and we can dissect it for you and show you were you were wrong.

It would depend on how you responded. The LoL guideline advises to just mute and report them after the game. The system openly admits to not caring who instigated the fallout. Don't buy into their bullshit, mute and move on, let them scream and carry on at a deaf audience.

Beene42 was a massive abusive %%%% to me and you have the fucking gaul to suspend my chat over his? as i know because he mockingly send a message to me while i was playing. What the fuck is wrong with this game? do you want it to completely die out? because it will with the unchecked abuse if massive amount of players. i defended myself against such an attack and got a chat ban. what a fucking joke. what a shitty company that cant keep up with the hackers. you would be ab idiot to invest money in this platform. its so faulty there are no rules/ what a fucking joke

What a fucking broken system, they purposely make the victim the offender. This game breeds toxicity more than any other game I have ever played in my life, and this shit started when they started giving out free honor rewards, I know for a fact they want to ban as many people as they can to reduce the amount of honor rewards on accounts. They probably think it incentivizes people to buy more, but no being the victom of toxic people and then defending myself or justifying makes me the bad guy and justified for a ban, this game lost its priorities and its really fucked up.

I rarely report. But I did today and about 5 minutes later I get one of those "thanks for the assist" notifications. It works at least a little.

And the only time action was ever taken on my account was when I let my younger brother play on it. And I say some nasty stuff sometimes, especially after too much beer.

Im not sure. I havent played league without rules to compare it to. They really need to add "dont insult players" to their rules because people see defamatory, harassment, etc... and think it means something else. I think just adding that one word "insult" would clarify things for some.
