Does Riot consider smack talk toxic?

So I have been chat banned before for being toxic to teammates. Not, "Go kill yourself!" Toxic, but more like, "Listen you fed all game and now no vote the surrender you're doubly useless for fucks sake."

I'm reforming, it's a process haha.

With that out of the way, does Riot consider talking shit to the other team toxic? Recently, in an effort to take my focus off my team, I'm constantly talking shit to the other team. Not mean stuff, but more like "You're gonna regret being so aggro baby. Let's just have a nice cs friendly lane phase." Or, "Trundle, Azir is gonna need gank help this game cause he wants to push, harass and piss me off!" Or, "Jinx don't ever come out me like that again or you're going to end up dying again."

Now the fact that I am not good enough to back up these shit talk statements isn't really relevant to me. In a small way I am trying to put the enemy team on tilt a little. Many times inevitably they send a bunch to my lane cause I've pissed them off enough by talking and my other lanes can take advantage.

Smack talk is unsportsmanlike behavior, which is against the summoner's code. So yes, it's toxic and reportable.

Yeah. Anything that the most sensitive person in the World could theoretically be remotely offended by is considered toxicity by Riot and you can be banned for it.

It's an automated system. It's not going to differentiate between real toxicity and jokes. If it finds something it decides is negative, it will count against you regardless of context or intent. Think of it this way: just because something is funny to you or your friends, that doesn't mean it's not offensive to those around you.

I'd say yes. Because yeah, you're purposefully trying to get a player upset, through your actions in game. That's pretty much the definition of toxic.[slayer-jinx-unamused]

Yes Riot does. Whether or not it's actually toxic behavior in essence is the discussion I'd be interested in seeing.

It's pretty common sense. If someone is trolling/intentionally feeding/negative attitude in your game then report them at the end. But if you break ToS because someone else did then that's hypocritical to expect special treatment just because you are seeking "Justice" or "Retribution" by being toxic back. As for smack talk in general. It's an incredibly immature thing that need's to just die out especially when that smack talker starts raging when he starts to lose. Raging players who throw temper tantrums make the entire community look like a bunch of 14 year old's who just got their WoW subscription canceled by mommy.

Regardless of the gray area that smack talk occupies in the summoners code, can we all agree that smack talk has been celebrated in competition for a long time now?

Eeehhhhhh, honestly I would still be careful with it. People could still report you for it if you're being annoying about it. Not sure if anything would come of that but do it often enough and get enough reports, and who knows.

If you do wanna try for some All-Chat smack talk but don't wish to get reported for it keep it light, at a "banter" level. Avoid trigger phrases like "gg ez" "scrub" "noob" etc. And if someone acts annoyed, put a stop to it because they may report you just for filling All-Chat with chatter. One report won't do shit, but if you want to avoid being reported I recommend being mindful of people's reactions to the smack talk.
