I don't know how true description of the atmosphere is that he provides is, but what he describes as "The Event" seems more likely to be a misunderstanding than a rape joke. Anyone who has ever worked sales will tell you they're taught "No doesn't mean no not ever, it means no not now." The phrase had nothing to do with rape. It had to do with perseverance, with chasing a sale through diligent, consistent effort and relationship elevation. In fact, if you think about it, perseverance is considered a positive trait in school, in sports, in the workplace, and just about every other context EXCEPT rape.
