Account banned - confirmed what is wrong with Rito's process and society in general

So, on one of my account I decided to do a little experiment after being troubled by Rito's punishment actions. I began to notice that being punished was more related to the quantity of your comments in-game rather than the severity of what you said. Also, if multiple people gang up on you (regardless if they are wrong or right) then you are going to get punished even if they are the issue.

What I find ironic is some of the examples... a top laner walks out into lane and begins to int dying 5 times in the 1st 5 mins... and when i ask him to stay back up and stop feeding, you get the typical response "stfu" or get called the N word or worse. But that doesn't get one banned. But apparently asking someone to stop feeding, or providing them advice like "hug the turret since you are behind and farm" and people claim you are "flaming them" and "being negative." It gets even worse when you get qued with a duo of friends who all begin shouting in all chat to report someone.

So, you can use racist terms, bad language, and generally be a child all day... and Riot doesn't say anything. I have seen some names of people that are enough to ban in my opinion (mainly racist things like the N word, saying you mom should die, very derogatory terms toward females, etc.). But if you give people advice that turns into a chat war with their friends, you get banned.

The hypocrisy is something that will eventually cause Riot to re-evaluate their process or get hurt financially.

Even better is when they show the player their own posting as a reason for the ban but don't show the entire conversation so there is no context to the conversation.

Also, I have a few accounts. The one that was banned was the lowest one at b5 / s1. I have noticed that the lower the tier class, the more likely the ban. In the upper tiers people that get nasty don't tend to report as often (I guess people in higher elo's have thicker skin?).

Anyway, it made for a good sociology project in my college class.

Would be interested to know other's thoughts. I am an adult with the financial means to keep playing LoL so the bans don't bother me. But I think of myself as a kid or young teen who has invested hundreds of hours and possibly a lot of money on an account, only to see this happen. And then you wonder why some kids flip out...

Oh well.. .happy hunting! Signing out for good .. at least on this IP / Account.

Few things wrong with this, first off, 9 reports = 1 report. The amount of reports in game doesn't trigger the system, it is the amount you get overall. It takes several games worth of reporting to actually get punished.

2nd, report him, move on, just because someone does a crime and might not get in trouble, doesn't mean it should be ok for you to.

3rd, homophobic and racial slurs are always ban worthy, that is why you see posts here saying "I have never been punished before, how did I instantly get a 14 day ban?"

4th, You technically are right about the bad words thing, Riot doesn't care about cursing honestly, hell, I generally make some kind of joke where I say something along the lines of fuck or shit at the start of my matches, been doing it for years, never been banned. You are free to say anything (as long as it isn't racist) and not get punished, when you starting throwing it at people is when people start reporting you and thus you get punished.

5th, you still get banned at higher elo, plenty of pros have, T1 has like 20+ accounts permabanned showcasing how wrong that theory is, it isn't about having thicker skin, it is just that since people play better at higher elo, people tend to be slightly less toxic, but with players like you who think anyone doing poorly is purposely doing it to punish you without realizing that people have bad games, you get punished more since people down there are pretty bad.

6th, if they lose their account, good, maybe they will learn to calm down then.

To me not getting punished seems pretty simple, I just don't have to be toxic. Super easy method, and I get to keep my skins and other stuff too.

U dont need full conversation . Lets assume someone chat u something bad at you, he s toxic and flagged and will be punished. End.... ..no.. U decide to join him offending badly him. U get a flag too and get punished too. U could have left.him in his misery of ban instead u joined him. Who s faulty? Yourself. Yourself is what caused u to be punished.

Noone force u to reply to toxicity, and u know consequences, instead u broke rules. Noone cares if someone think my mother get laid by different persons , on internet by a stranger.

Anyway..how did the experiment end?

Edit: chatlog

You claim to be a college student doing an experiment, but provide no data. I hope what you turned in had it, as anicdotal evidence likely would have gotten you a failing grade. Care to share a link to your "report" or at the very least a link to an upload of your data?

for one what your claiming is untrue i have been reported by 9 people in one game a lot of times but i did nothing wrong so i myself reported the toxic people and never got a email from riot saying i should change how i act and this happens to me often so just because people "gang up on you" dont mean anything as long as you were nice and respectful report those that are false reporting you and go on your way. and im 99% sure riot always slaps the wrists of anyone that says racist or sexist things and you should say stuff more like plz try to play safe or even better offer a lane swap..personally you should like someone who salty rages at people you think your better then and you probably deserved to have your account ban i think riot needs to warn and ban more then they do

From a technical standpoint, the severity of the overall chat does increase with quantity it is used.

Lets say 1 hate speech word is worth 50 toxicity points and saying someone is bad is worth 1 toxicity point. You call someone bad 50 times in a game, it's the same as using hate speech once.

So you are absolutely right on that regards.

If people understands that Riot punishes people based on consistency x severity, then they'll understand that spamming a low toxicity phrase over and over again consistently will get them punished.

That said, if you are thinking about the quantity of reports makes a difference, it doesn't matter. If you ask 1 person or 10 people whether the lights are on in a room, they'll give you the same answer. That's the same as how the reports work, you'll get the same toxicity score regardless of how many reports you received within that game.

i LOLed at this sentence "6th, if they lose their account, good, maybe they will learn to calm down then."

Yea because people who play video games usually dont have money and usually arent 500 elo boosting sites haha
