Riot toxicity bans are out of control!

So, I was just permabanned. Firstly, even though I've spent a grip of money, I don't really mind. I'm way more productive now. Secondly, I get what they're trying to do with the tribunal system and I respect it. Although, It is really unbalanced since you can mute someone who is toxic but cant do anything about ppl who throw games intentionally and admittedly troll other ppl, but that's something that'll hopefully be worked out in the future. I will admit to BMing people and carrying on an argument, but it's ALWAYS mutual, where they are raging at me as much or even more than I am to them. I'm not talking about ppl having a bad game. I stopped flaming bad/new players and usually offer them help. I'm talking about the fact that in the vast majority of the cases (nine i believe) where I was pinged for toxicity, my teammates were all together and flaming me hard so I flamed back at them, but because I was alone and they just honored each other, I was pinged for toxicity and they weren't (this is a flaw in the system that they need to work out). I'm very polarized with my chat. Usually Im very positive and considerate but I'm VERY good at laying down the BMing and getting under ppls skin when heat is thrown my way. Especially if it's multiple ppl coming at me. Personally, Idc about BMing. I'm a grown up and don't expect others to massage my feels and protect me. THat's what the mute option is for. Getting banned do to the fact that the reports were made out of (mainly) nepotism is ridiculous.. It takes two to tango and I never get aggressive unless it's coming at me first. I have a flippant attitude that can make ppl defensive, but that's because my friends and I tell each other to 'fuck off' and 'suck it easy' all the time for play. Plus, I honestly like arguing in game sometimes. It changes up the monotony. Banning ppl because others are hyper defensive and start raging then have their friends jump in, flame you too, then all report you, is just asinine. A few of the cases I was definitely in the wrong, and I deserved to be reported, but most of them were mutual arguments with me getting flammed hard by duo, trio or quadra team players who ganged up on the reporting.

Punishing ppl for toxicity makes sense. Chat restrictions make sense. Even fining ppl would make sense. Permabanning players for doing stuff in chat when there is a mute option DOES NOT. Just perma-chat-ban ppl for the season and that'll fix the problem. As it is, Riot is just enabling fragile, easily triggered, SJWs that need their 'safe spaces' to cope with life. Which isn't good for anyone.

Don't worry, this doesn't happen. People cannot honor each other out of a report. Report them and they get the same punishment as you.

Why is verbal abuse punishable if there is a mute button/language filter?

Players shouldn’t need to rely on features like the mute button or language filter to engage with other players in positive ways. When a player verbally abuses another player and forces him to use the mute button, they have already created a negative experience for that player.

Permabanning players for doing stuff in chat when there is a mute option DOES NOT.

That's like saying: "Taking a dump on your table in a restaurant is no reason to throw you out, because the other people could just leave the place, or ignore the smell."

I think we don't need to discuss how moronic that "logic" is.

if you are so easily triggered, whats stopping you from intentional feeding / AFKing after getting triggered and realise you can't chat?

The rest, wall of text too stronk, give me a tldr.

Just perma-chat-ban ppl for the season and that'll fix the problem.

That's probably what Riot thought when they tried that. Most of them ended up permabanned nonetheless, as they resorted to trolling and feeding to vent their frustration, when chat was no longer an option.

Your opinion on this is intuitive and understandable, but it has been tested and it just doesn't work. If anything, it makes it worse because feeding and trolling is generally more difficult to detect.

i think they feel they are popular enough to allow themselves to have a draconian and unfair ban policy

The current system doesn't work. Getting someone to say something in a chat is the best thing you can catch someone doing. The current system doesn't punish swifty enough, often enough or consistently enough and rather than mute and report, you might as well take matters into your own hands. I have no faith in the system to punish someone if I mute and report, but I know they will hear me if I flame them.

Perma banning doesn't make sense. Perma chat banning has always been my personal opinion on how to best handle players that don't understand the function of a chat window in a game.

Why does everyone operate under the assumption that the "other guy" wasn't also banned?
