Queue dodge penalty issues

So here I am, fresh out of a long day, 2h long driving lessons and 2h long of homework. I decide to take a break by playing my first LoL game of the day. I join game, someone asks if I want to trade top and I nicely answer no since im a top lane Garen main and already trade on a regular basis. I then get Garen in my champion slot so they know I want to play him. It's now time to ban and the auto-filled who wanted to trade sees I want Garen and intentionally bans him. He/She then decides it would be nice to start being toxic in chat before the game has even started. I decide to dodge (something that I rarely intentionally do) and I get a 6 minute queue penalty. I know 6mins is not much but it kind of got me mad that I got punished for wanting to have fun withouth ruining the experience for others (I'm pretty much Garen one-trick at this point).

Honestly, i'm just dissapointed with the community at this point. It's not the first time it happens and surely it won't be the last one.

One thing about League is that the banning mechanic of champion selection outweighs the picking mechanic. Put bluntly, you have no right to expect a specific champion will or will not be playable in the game - as it may get banned, and if someone wants to ban it for any reason their desire to ban it outweighs your desire to play it.

That being said, your decision to dodge as you did not get your preferred champion was your decision to make - but you must accept the consequences of your choice. You have no way of knowing if the player would have been toxic, trolled in game, etc - you may think you had logical reasons to assume they would, but that is your assumption.

9 times out of 10, players like this don't actually do anything in game - they'll play their assigned role, may play an off meta champ, but they usually try and play well. Your decision to dodge on the off chance it's the rare case they troll in game was yours to make.

Never show intent, especially after refusing to trade someone. That sucks though.
