new to the game

Im pretty new to lol, started a few weeks ago. I play some champions more than others, read up on them, play them in AI games. It's getting better and better.

But once in a while I try out a normal game, which sort of instantly cures you of thinking of lol as a fun game. Geezus, people need to really chill. If you miss an ult (as i do sometimes as a newbie), or otherwise mess up accidentally, you're flamed as if you just committed a truly heinous crime.

Give new people some slack.

Real talk? Don't play normals without at least one friend. Ever. As a newbie, the community will be a bunch of assholes to you and it may or may not get better when you get good. The game is fun, but you save yourself a lot of grief by playing with friends, who can laugh off a bad play with you in skype.

Welcome to League. It doesn't get any better really.

Scarras Waifu3/5/2016, 10:01:32 PM1 votes

It's your runes. Some people are jerks who powerlvl low lvl accounts to their friends can get to lv30 (or just make a scrub account). Since you have no real knowledge of the game you'll get destroyed and the powerlvlers will get buttmad because they expect new players to be LCS lvl pros.

Keep your head up. Let people get mad, it wont ruin your day. I remember learning league and I got called everything under the sun. People are toxic in this game but most are good quiet people.

Bro, it definitely does not get any better. Haha... I'm sorry but we actually can all relate to how you feel right now, but honestly, I see a lot of positives.

#1 You seem to have a level headed reaction to the fact that people are never wrong themselves, and never make mistakes themselves, and that you always do and always blow the game... instead of flaming them back, you seem to have even a light hearted reaction to it (im inferring that from the use of the phrase "geezus" :D #2 You are expressing your feelings in a positive way...and #3 You have positive hopes for the future! ("It's getting better and better") but unfortunately you have the wrong attitude... You haven't even played ranked yet. You suck. Nobody else ever sucks. Losses are always everyone's fault EXCEPT for the person to first criticize ANY action by another player that COULD be linked to a possible turn in the game. (if that person has someone chime in and agree with them in under 25 seconds ((including someone saying ^)) then they are immune to loss-fault for life, obviously. It does not ever get better, even if you mute people or respectfully reply, they will eventually just afk or yank their ethernet cords... Wait till you experience the "..." comments from the passive-agressive-perfect players who think that ellipses are sound advice or even the display of anything constructive... (besides the fact that you're trying to say nothing but let us all know that you're saying nothing, which is like loudly saying nothing...which is confusingly just retarded, attention-seeking and funny...:D) I'd like to see what someone's mouth looks like who replies to someone with a spoken "..." (btw if this describes you, see my writing for the correct (but over-used) syntax of using an ellipse... ...damn ... ...)

Bro, the ONLY real solution to this problem in my opinion is to call out these people for that they are...they are pathetic. Anyone who can't stand to lose a game shouldn't even be playing it...an accepted risk of entering into a contest is that you may LOSE. I was onboard with a lot of riots ideas about player modification and the like...and actually wrote a bit about it in the forums when it was newer...(i have a certain interest in the subject as well because I am an elementary school teacher, and I study the minds of young ones as a passion and as an educator.) but there are no positive changes that I have seen. Unfortunately, I think this is a more widespread and actually a deeply serious societal problem and we're only seeing one facet of it here in the gaming world. I believe our youth worldwide (but most especially america and generally "the west") are quickly developing a "surrender" attitude, and a fear of failure that is slowly crippling them. Quitting is actually seen as beneficial (to save time i've heard the argument put...but that just shows a horrible misunderstanding of opportunity cost and basic economics as applied to human psychology), losing is the worst possible pain that you can experience and nothing is gained from it (when actually the exact opposite is shown and proven in educational research and in a cursory look at a grab-bag of "successful people's" life experiences...they've experienced more failures than most actually) and the best defense to bad feelings about a loss is to immediately abandon any responsibility for it. Most people would say to me, no big deal, its just a game... but I see it happening in the classroom as well, on the recess yard, and even on the athletic fields... So in closing, don't join the club. Quitting is never good. People who think they will never lose and who cant lose graciously are cowards. Cowardice is the biggest enabler of an ordinary life...a mundane existence... So the people who are mocking you are either in the middle of a transformative part of puberty where feelings of insecurity, self doubt and tons of other junk make them into monsters, or they've joined the pathetic-parade, and they are 30, in their parents' basement, will never accomplish anything considered remarkable on anyone's standards and most likely will STILL be "yelling at noobs for keeping them in bronze" 10 years from now... bitchslap them for being what they are, call them out on it, and find a group of real men and women who arent afraid to lose and actually ENJOY the game... (im in the club btw... hit me up anytime, nopressure00... im happy to play with you anytime...)

contrary to what alot of people say, it does get better, after you get into lvl 30, get some better skills and start palying ranked games (more competative)

the low level experience is filled with people whom are smurfs and they have 0 patience for newbies.

1 wrong play, they'll flame like crazy as you have already experienced. alot of them actually have their mains banned (which is why they start a new account) because they were toxic.

keep in mind that type of behavior isn't tolerated and you don't have to answer to them, just play your game. some of them will teach you something if you ask for constuctive criticism, but most of them will just flame. if you can't tolerate it, you can mute them inside the "tab menu" (aka score board).

I agree, this game is pretty horrible for new players. The skill curve is pretty high and people can be pretty ruthless. Just ignore those idiots. If you find people who you like add them to your friends list and play with them. At really low levels its better to just play with people you know than angsty teenager who think they are the next faker are upset because you are losing a normal game for them.

I'd add you but you're on the EUW server.

New players don't have the right runes. So new players are stuck with grinding out lv3 runes. It will take months to get more then 1 rune page and the right runes for a champ. It's why Riot wants you to buy rune pages, IP boosts and champs. It's really scummy when you think about it. You're best bet is to play 1 or 2 champs that have the same runes (like most AP mages have 1 set of rune page, and tanks have all the same rune pages) To go really in depth with runes, is that Ahri rune pages requires blue CDR scaling, while Orianna is better suited for AP scaling blues.

My advice is this. Go to http://champion.gg/ pick a champ you think you can play for months and not get bored. Look at their runes and masteries and just play them. Google a guide how to beat their counters and the play style.

You're complaining about behavior that's going to happen no matter what you do, so I don't think there's anything you can do about it.

You get flamed for making a mistake? Buddy, ppl are going to flame you even if you did everything right. You got the kill? Dude why you ks me. You set everything up for your teammates to get the kill? Enemy runs away with sliver of health and you get flamed for not finishing them off. If ppl are determined to flame you they can always find reasons to.

You need to come to the realization that in normals ppl are not there to win the game. They're playing to have fun in their own ways, and some of them find harassing others most entertaining. Unfortunately there's nothing I can do to help you out, since that's just the kind of community you're playing with. Things may get better for you when you play ranked where ppl might actually care about winning, but it's gonna take a while before you get to that point.

Maybe just mute everyone at the start of the game? Idk just my idea

COBRA C0MM4NDER3/7/2016, 6:48:59 PM1 votes

If you decide to throw in for normals, I'd jump in with ya.

I have no hopes for winning and definitely none for losing. it's the experience of teamwork I enjoy. chasing along an enemy with 25hp left while your teamate desperately rushes/flashes to secure that last hit for the kill.

Stealing baron with a 2V5 or ulting from across the map, Soloing dragon to lure the enemy team while the other four crush toplane.

perhaps we can relax and enjoy a 5 man pentakill ult while you scream DISCOOOO!!! (as Karthus no less...) in /all chat.

Just have fun playing and just remember, there's always a mute function if the other players get too saucy.

Stick to the Summoners Code and you'll be allright.

True comment it doesn't get better. It gets worse. Best advice is practice and learn to mute them. I can be a good yas player and one of my favorite champion to play and I sometimes miss queue his tornadoes. It happens. If you want someone to chill with I wouldn't mind playing with you. It gets me out of rank and change of setting. Otherwise yea this is lol and toxic but not everyone that play is like that. Gl
