RE : Reworking Leaver Buster Program

We've all must have come across that one moment in our lives when we faced the wrath of our shitty internet which cost us the game and evidently resulted in being placed in the Lower Priority Queue which comes with a 100 minute waiting time as one of it's perks. Now, when we experience such an event, we wonder what can we possibly do to avoid this in future, but honestly there isn't any way you can avoid (unless you've a very good internet which never fucks up and never gives you a bad ping as well).

It first begins with a 5 minute waiting time which extends to a 20 minute/game for your next 5 games. Now suppose, you got "BUSTED for LEAVING" (i mean seriously 'LEAVER BUSTER'...sigh) and now you're waiting browsing stuffs online for 20 mins for your game to start. And the game starts "yes" but someone bombs it by trolling and not playing properly hence costing your time and experience. How annoyed you'd be?

Let's consider another situation. So you're in the Lower Priority Queue working it out, perceiving you can wait for 100 minutes and then it would all be normal again. You're playing bot games cos you want it to go fast and you can be back to your rank or pvp games without much waiting (although you are waiting for 100 minutes HAHA). Finally, you played 5 bot games and you're back in a normal queue...you feel content, even a bit happy thinking now you don't have to wait for 20 minutes again, so you start a pvp/rank game taking your main champion hoping for a win. You're doing good, you're dominating your opponent and it looks like you'd win. Suddenly your wifi crashes or you get a power cut and now you're just DONE. You waited 100 minutes playing stupid bot games pushing back to normal queue but you're again smothered in the same bullshit you were trying to evade. What's your psychological state of mind right now?

Like these, their can be so many scenarios where a person could not complete his game and evidently receiving something which is quite inevitable. Now, i'm not saying the system is wrong neither i'm tryna say that the people who leave games can justify their actions giving this excuse. What i'm trying to point out here is, we need a better moderation system when it comes to giving a time penalty or punishing someone who leaves a game (regardless of the reason).

Here is what i think could be implemented which would definitely effect the whole system and can help create a better program for punishing people who leave games.

There has to be an automated review system which would review every summoner and categorize them into groups based on the number of games they've played and games they left on an average. For example, suppose you've just started playing league and you're a newbie. You are working your way to level 30 and getting hold of different champions trying to master them. You have no idea what runes or masteries is right now and you probably don't have a clue of what this whole Leaver Buster program is. You couldn't complete one of your games regardless of whatever reason, now riot here can brief you the program and how you can help yourself not getting punished. What i want in the modified Leaver Buster Program is that you can actually see how many games you've left and what can that lead to. There has to be a chart which would give you a basic knowledge of what level or situation you are in and what can happen if you continue leaving games. At the end of the month, this review system would reset and you'd be back on the level 1 or the initial phase but this time if you leave you won't be notified, you'd actually be penalized.

A note to Riot. You have to explain everything what you're doing as League of Legends is a gigantic community now which spawns the whole GLOBE. You can't focus on just a place or a couple of places (i'm not saying you do). You have to even think of the remote corners and places where electricity is not available constantly and places which have frequent power cuts. People in these places don't really care about that cos they LOVE league so much..they just want to play and end up getting punished for leaving which they can't prevent. We have to think as a single body and develop accordingly.

Thank you for your time!

They already have a warning telling you not to leave any games after you leave your first game.

  1. Don't start games you're not sure you can finish. (In other words, if you don't have an hour to spare, don't click play!)

  2. Don't start games on unreliable internet (coffee shop, airport, etc)

  3. Leaverbuster has some leeway - don't waste it on leaving games you don't absolutely have to and you won't get LPQ'd when you have real technical issues.

It's not fair for the other 9 people ingame if one person plays on garbage internet or at 4:30pm at their parent's house right before dinner starts, and leaverbuster is built with that in mind. It's not about you, it's about the other 9 people.

Get better internet services. Its not that expensive.

I am glad the punishments are harsh, it stops a lot of people from leaving.
