Help me, what do I do in the future

I just played a game where I was having some odd performance issues with my computer. For one reason or another my computer was not really working all too fatst and so my game was running at about 10-15 fps, with random jumps and skips, stalls and stops, you name it my game was doing it. I had already died 3 times because of stupid things that resulted because of either my inability to trade or not being able to react to a situation about 2 or 3 seconds after it had happened. I decided to afk for about 3 minutes while restarting my computer because I knew at that point that I was either just going to be able to sit in base, or just die more. When I came back to my game my adc was saying he was going to report me for afking. Yes I did afk but, I let them know I was going to be right back, and I did actually come back to the game. I tried to be as reasonable as I could with my adc but you know how people are.

I can without a doubt say that everyone has had problems with their computer functioning at one point or another, I would just like some advice on what to do in the future because this was an incredibly frustrating set of circumstances I was put under that to be quite frank, I cannot necessarily control. I still lost a ranked game and now I am tilted because my teammate was grief-ing me for afking when it was not what I wanted to do, nor was it something that I would have done under most any other circumstance.

Thank you

If I ever have issues I just close lol and then insta reconnect with the lobby still up. At most you'd miss like 30 seconds and usually fixes the issue if its LoL related. If its on the comp then that's on you to figure out before queuing up

I'm playing league on a never upgraded 10years old computer my graphic card is an nvidia quadro FX 1700 released in 2007, I'm still using a multi-screen setup and i'm still able to do heavy multitasking like playing league while watching an HD youtube video on a second monitor, it just takes a lot of tweaking.

Try to work on fixing your computer issues, maybe completely reinstalling windows, pay attention to programs/services windows running in the background try to disable everything you don't need. ( Always have a task manager open to be able to see what is eating resources ) I imagine that you're already playing with the minimum graphic settings.

On today's mainstream operating systems and especially on windows you have a ton of useless services and functionalities enabled by default that will use resources. ( Things like Bluetooth support, Cortana, Geolocalisation, windows updates, the Xbox thingy, the biometric functionalities, windows defender, windows search, the desktop visual effect, IP helper for ipv6 things, ..... really a ton of stuff ! )

For example when an update is available windows will sometimes download it and then work on preparing your computer to update later, this process can use a lot of CPU and I/O resulting in odd performances. ( It's a behavior you can disable, but if you do you need to check manually for important updates at least once a week, it's quite simple )

If your computer has less than 10 years old i would presume that you just have a bunch of malicious/useless programs and services installed and running in the background.

In your situation i would make a backup of pictures, documents and stuff, then wipe out the entire disk, reinstall a fresh copy of windows and then tweak it a lot to optimize the performances. If you don't wanna try that just use your task manager or something like procexp64 from Sysinternals while you're experiencing this issue, and find what's using your computer resources that will help narrow down the issue.

League is really the kind of game that doesn't require much resources, under load the launcher often uses more CPU than the game itself.
