Trying New Characters

I already know that this community is toxic, but today I reached a new low. For most of my games, I am pushed to be bot, ADC, or mid. I tried out top once to try and shake things up and I didn't like it much. So this time I tried something different. I had planned to go Xin Zhao Jungle. I had my character ready to be picked and then someone picked Jungle. "Alright" i though. "Maybe I can ask him If i can go Jungle. "No. I go Jungle" Is the response I was met with. Not a "Sorry man, this is the only one I am good with" (that was the only character and role they played in their last 20 games) or a "Nah man, I really want to go Jungle if that is ok" So what does any good league player do then? Pick the remaining roles. Mid, Bot, and ADC. I snapped. I picked a Jungling character anyway and went about my business. When we were loading, I decided that I should be a good sport and play top. We all load in and I get called a fucking idiot. Well excuse me for trying something new. Just because you don't have the guts to try something other than jungle shouldn't prevent others from trying that out. I didn't respond horribly. I went top and went about my business. Needless to say I had no idea what I was doing while I was there. Playing a Jungle as a top is a hard thing to do for someone new like me. I died. A lot. So not only am I getting constant shit for dying, but even when I am not dying I am getting shit

Why? For trying to step outside my comfort zone when the fan base here clearly doesn't want to. So next time you play a character or role you play a lot and someone else asks if they can maybe try it out, why not give them a shot. How else are they going to learn how to play that character or role if it is taken up by some one trick pony who only plays one character or only one role.

Now I know some of you are going to say "Well why not just try out top again when someone picked Jungle?" Not being able to play jungle isn't what this is about. This is about actively being pushed to not leave your comfort zone or not being able to because someone is stubborn and only plays the same character.

Some of you are probably going to look at my match history and see that I have only been playing Ahri and Caitlyn. Well the reason for that is I have to play them because those are usually the only two roles left when everyone is done picking.

So now I want to close this...rant?

If you always play the same character, why not try something new? You might like it. You may find change exciting! If you see someone and it is their first time playing a role or character (or both), give them some slack. They are going into unknown territory and can't be experts on the first try.

How about this...

I don't know about anyone else here, but I am going to try, for the next twenty games or so, never play the same character or role multiple times. Feel free to challenge yourself to do this, too. Comment me if there is something you want me to try.
