Higher Than Thou Attitude

I'm a returning player from way back in the fresh out of beta days, I wish i still had access to my old account but Im sure we all know how that is, and I just want to say there is such a lack in players wanting to help each other get better these days. Everyone just wants to give up, ff, say someone is inting, or a bot, or whatever other excuse they can make other than that they might have made a mistake. I would like to see people actually helping each other instead of just trying to run over one another for a spot you wont have for more than a couple hours anyway when your luck runs out and someone gets the better of you. It is so bad that I have contemplated uninstalling simply because there's no point in a team game if I'm always stuck with people who want to make themselves seem like a pro that just got stuck on a crappy team. Any thoughts on how we might can remedy this?

Unfortunately this is the kind of thing that can only be made better by people like us who don't shit on everyone in-game...by not contributing to the problem. I don't think there's another answer.

Competitive game; this kind of attitude is natural.

Mute if you don't like it

I am a season 3 veteran and the "better than thou" attitude among the player base is what caused me to uninstall. Besides the fact people are not interested in WINNING the match by going after towers. I have actually been flamed and insulted because I wanted to help a new player. In more and more of my games when I try to help a new player, the response I get from the rest of the team is a general "Stfu, no one cares" attitude. Even if I am not adressing the offended player, they feel it is there duty to tell me just how I need to stop helping a new player because "no one cares, I already know this shit" They think everything revolves around them. They dont need a team because they think they are faker in disguise. Its an attitude of "stfu and get under my boot" as they trash and talk about how "garbage" thier team is. anyone who tries to advise alternative strategies will get told "Stfu noob, u suk at the game" everything will fall under "feeding" "trolling" or "Greifing"

And the forum seems to embrace this attitude. Riot is too stuck up and full of themselves to try and dispell this attitude that people "dont need a team". Riot has created a community of entitled little shits who think thier shit dont stink, and would rather spend most of the game looking at the rest of thier team as peasants beneath thier royal boot. They waste so much time telling thier team how pathetic they are and then wonder why they lost the game with a 28/2 kda this is because this community has become so pathetically full of themselves they are more interested in farming kills just to show how much "better than you" they are. yet they will call you salty for trying to inform them that in an -objective- based game (meaning it doesnt revolve on kills), The Game doesnt give 2 fucks about how many kills you have. When the enemy takes the nexus because a player is too lazy and too busy patting themselves on the back to take towers, the game is OVER and is LOST regardless of how "totally fed" the bragging player claims they are. and btw, Having 18 kills but NO TOWERS DOWN does NOT MEAN YOU ARE CARRYING. It means you are a greedy, self important worm too wrapped up in your own ego to bother winning the match.

I dont see myself as "better than thou" when it comes to my team. But when thse players tell me to "stfu, ur just salty" when I suggest taking towers instead of farming kills, dont get to blame ME for the loss under "feeding" because they ignore towers and dragons and lose us the match chasing "1v1 me bruh"

Let me try and put this into perspective for you.

Hypothetically, let us say that you and I were on the same team in a match. Our team is performing badly and I cannot perceive any possible way of obtaining victory. Could be my fault. Could be someone else's fault. I don't care. I just want to move on. My allies are strangers to me. They are not my friends they are not my family. I have no emotional investment in them. And to expect me or any other person to invest feelings on a scale you described into players you don't even know is expecting too much. I'll be on a new team soon enough with allies just as unfamiliar to me as the ones I had before it and so continues the cycle.

I am no guide, no expert, no professional. And, whenever I do bother offering advice to allies, it is usually ignored at best and received as an insult at worst. So even if I could be bothered to try and teach someone, the fact remains most players don't want it. Most players don't ask for it and behave as though they don't need it and proceed to do their own thing however they damn well please regardless if someone provides sound advice to do otherwise.

So, yes, I would rather forfeit a match and have a fresh start than play the role of a video game coach. You want to help people? Do you legitimately want to help people? Go outside and do volunteer work for your community.

And besides, if players genuinely want to learn, they'll look for the information on their own. It is readily available to them from many sources, sources far more reputable than you, me, or most any given player of the game.

But my games are not tutorial sessions for whatever unskilled player that lands on my team.

Me too my friend! :) Maybe we can play sometime?

Generally speaking the solution to toxicity is to queue up with friendly people as often as you can and try to promote a friendly attitude yourself. There's not a whole lot that can be done to change people with awful attitudes, but not making their attitudes worse is generally a decent start. Reporting people who genuinely deserve to be reported is a good method too, because some people simply can't clean themselves up. ^^;

I don't know, finding a way to keep people unable to take the fire away from Ranked is a good start. What you say is all fine and good if it's applied to a casual game. The real problem here is people who come and play Ranked for the seasonal skin without having the required skill or mentality.

It's simple: For some reason or another, it has become a free for all where everyone is playing for themselves. Everyone wants to be ahead of everyone else so they refuse to help anyone, even if it means losing a game. Of course, the course of action is to try to get the player mass reported, and, hopefully, discourage them so much that they quit.

TLDR: the playerbase made it a dick waving contest. Why they did that? I couldn't tell you

Well a working reform system for one would help. Unfortunately riot's ideology of ban ban ban is what we have to deal with now. Even this board where players come looking for explainations about their punishments get met with a "holier then thou" attitude which I doubt want to make them reform.

My solution would be for riot to actually try to fix/heal their community. Many ideas have been suggested, all have been ignored.

Rally people to play around people whom are on equal grounds or doing better than the enemy.

I met a friend on league that was a new player his mechanics were way better than a new player should have had but he seemed a bit clueless about what's going on in the game and honestly I enjoyed playing league with him more than most the pro wannabes I play with today sadly for whatever reason he stopped playing completely, I kinda regret not spending more time with him so maybe he won't quit
