I had to AFK in a draft match

I was sitting here, about an hour ago, and my mom started flipping out because she lost her credit card and needed help, I was 1/0 in lane with Jax, and I backed and sat in base and kept running back to my PC and moving every 10 mins or so, but I couldn't ever return to the game. I even typed in chat and told everyone that I was helping my mom find her credit card. Will I receive a perma or a 14 day just for this? Ive never afk in game or dc on purpose in a couple thousand games.

its unlikely that you moved every 10min. after 3min of afking you get a message on screen telling you to not afk. after 5min or so (maybe it got changed?) you automatically disconnect from the game.

one game has no effect, if you afk several times you get a low priority q thats about it. APPARENTLY people got banned for afking but i have yet to see this ever confirmed.

tl:dr nothing will happen dont worry

any support assistant will tell you that you can get away with an occasional afk/disconnect. you will get put into low priority for it if you do it a significant amount, but due to how some players have bad internet and other such things the big thing you want to avoid is trying to lose the game on purpose or trends that make you look guilty of intentionally trolling.

in fact if you had to help find your mom's credit card you would have been better off disconnecting and returning once you found it. walking around on platform to prevent yourself from going afk makes it look like you're holding a game hostage. just take the LP loss and move on.

also your mom should learn to be an adult and keep up with her own stuff instead of forcing others to do it for her. most banks will deactivate your credit/debit card if you misplace it. and you can always get another one if you cant find it. the online transactions log will tell you if it's stolen. just look for unusual charges.

The system makes you type "I Agree" the first time you afk so that both of you know that it's not ok to do so. However Riot does realize that emergencies happen, so if it's super infrequent then you won't ever get punished for it. That's literally saying that League is more important than real life. If that were the case, I wouldn't play League ever!

You generally won't be severely punished for AFK/idle as long as it is not habitural. I.e. if you're regularly going afk in games because you don't like your team or want to troll or w/e than expect to get punished. But extreme circumstances like a power outage or parent aggro or a life emergency occasonally occur, you're fine.

As others noted though, you're better off just flat out leaving/disconnecting to not give your team false hope that you'll be back quickly. If the game is still going when you return, you can reconnect.
