Name reported?

I just logged in after a long time away and I got an alert saying my name was reported as offensive and I had to change it.

I picked the same name again (Clefa) so I'm not sure why I got reported or how it was offensive

Clefa makes me think of a pokemon... I like the name

Choosing the same name after getting a forced name change is a good way to get banned, normally.

I wouldn't think that it would happen this time, as I have no idea what could have caused Clefa to be considered offensive.

But, next time (if it ever happens again to any other name for any other player who is reading this), I suggest making a support ticket first, to clear up any misunderstanding. Choosing the same name, or a similar name to one that was flagged as offensive is normally punishable with a ban.

/edit It could have been flagged because clefa is a slang term for an illegal drug. The slang isn't generally used in North America, so it shouldn't get flagged on this server, imo.

Mystery solved! I got a reply from riot w/ the following:

I'm sorry for the confusion here with your summoner name. Fear not, I do have clarification for you here.

It looks like you were actually sent the wrong notification in your client. Your summoner name wasn't originally taken from your account due to it being inappropriate (as "Clefa" is not) it was taken because your account had passed through the window of inactivity so your name came avaialble to other players. However, since then, I see that you were able to change your summoner name back, as no other player had acquired it.
